emergency repair disk

Thread needs solution

I want to make Windows Emergency System Repair Disks. Windows Help directs me to Backup and Restore which now opens the Acronis Backup window, which unfortunately does not have an option for creating the system repair disks. Can someone direct me thru the process. I see that I can opt out of the Acronis Backup page in favor of Windows Backup & Restore. If I do that, how do I revert back to the Acronis window? Thanks for the help.

Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Backup and Restore then select Create a system repair disk on the left side of the window.

MY choices on the left side are: Control Panel Home, Turn on Windows Backup and Run True Image Home. What do I do at this point. Thanks

It sounds like you took the option to Integrate True Image with Windows, Yes? Turn off the integration in True Image. Reboot and then see if you have the option back.

YOu can switch on and off the integration under the help menu, integrate True Image into Windows.

Thanks for this. The OP didn't reply but it fixed my problem. I only removed the Control Panel integration. Why would Acronis add an option that kills the creation of Repair disks?

The question is, if you create a disk image using Window, the system repair disk will manage reinstalling the image file it made and repair windows errors. Windows actually tells you this when you've completed creating the repair disk. Will Acronis' repair media fix windows errors? Probably not, so you have to first use the Windows system repair disk and then reclaim the image with the Acronis disk, it that correct?

If so, why would I use Acronis for an image?

I've read comments from Microsoft MVPs who say that Windows backup is not as comprehensive or reliable as ATI backup. They actually recommend ATI.

ATI does not create Windows repair disks. You would do that from Windows. ATI enables you to create full disk backups that, when restored, will result in fully booting systems. A Windows repair disk can be a useful tool in various situations, not just related to disk imaging.

My current computer OS is Win7 Pro. If I buy 2013 Plus and later buy a new computer with Win 8 (my image is on an NAS drive), will the migration feature allow me to easily install the image on the new computer? If so, Plus sounds like a worthwhile investment in the future.
