Error During installation of Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack
Hi...
Recently downloaded and tried to install the above product causing an 'EPIC FAIL' when installing over Acronis True Image 2009 - just following the steps provided via Acronis!
During the install, Windows 7 x64 reported that 'Windows Explorer' was locking a file (this is after a complete reboot of the system). I clicked on ignore and then the OS reported that the program was not responding. Instead of picking one of the options, I decided to click on the 'X' to close the alert and Acronis continued to install and then completed. The system was again reset, with the icon's on the desktop, now clicking on the icon, I get the message 'Acronis True Image Home is not installed'. Forget about the uninstall, as the system sat there for over an hour with no on screen message indicating the removal process.
The only way to recover thus far was to 'cleanse' the system and re-install Win 7!!!!
LOL, I'm still in the process of recovering/re-building my RAID (which is performed via the OS).
Setup prior to 2010....
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
4GB RAM
1x 320GB for system OS and ASZ - BASIC DISK
2x 640GB Drives setup for mirroring via dynamic discs
1x 500GB Drive for VM's - BASIC DISK
1x External 1.5TB Drive used as a secondary backup - BASIC DISK
Acronis True Home Image 2009 was already installed and working.
I would like to get this up and running, instead of returning for a refund...!
Any opinions/recommendations is greatly appreciated!

@ Tatou....
My apologies, I purchased both True Image Home 2010 and the Plus Pack as it was priced for
$29.99 for both.
Thanks for the response!

Emilio,
So is 2010 (without the plus pack) installing or installed?

@ bodgy...
I may have confused the issue with my very first post, my apologies!
I first attempted the installation of Acronis TIH 2010 over an existing Acronis TIH 2009 as described in the Acronis documentation.
I first received an alert that a file was in use and that it would be updated after the restart. I clicked on 'continue' and then I received another alert this time from the OS that the program 'Acronis is not responding'. I had two options, but decided to click on the 'x' to close the alert, Acronis then continued to install. After the reset, when I attempted to launch the app, I got the alert, 'Acronis True Image Home 2010 is not installed'. The plus pack is an additional install which did not occur.
Uninstalling would not work and I have since then reverted back to a complete system image backup.
Currently, I'm running Acronis TIH 2009 rel...9809.
Hope this helps....and thanks for the response...

If you are feeling game I would suggest.
1. Uninstall TI2009. If 2010 is an upgrade version, you'll need your 2009 and 2010 serial numbers handy. REBOOT
2. Because of the problems you stated before, close down any internet browser, email client and once you've clicked on the 2010 installer all file managers (Windows Explorer etc). If your firewall was listed in the 'close down' list, it might be worth either disconnecting from the internet at that point and closing the firewall, or perhaps changing it's protection level to something slightly lower.
If you have anything like an intelligent defragger - O&O or Diskeeper for example, disable them.
3. Make sure the Temporary folder under your user log in is as empty as Windows will allow. In W7 this is under ; C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Temp
Once installed and rebooted, re-enable any firewall etc that has been disabled.

@ bodgy....
I was a little hesitant attempting another 'upgrade', but I figured since the drive has already been imaged, why not! This time around, no errors were generated and the installation of both TI 2010 and the Plus Pack were successful. It couild have been the OS that for some reason, the previous install was not successful - oh yeah, I did uninstall 2009 first and then installed 2010, but the odd thing was that during the 2010 install, it prompted me for both the 2010 and 2009 keys.....!
It seems to be all functional, including access to the dynamic disks.
I'll keep you posted and thanks for the responses, most appreciated.

No, not odd, that's how the upgrade versions work. You need the keys for the old versions - so keep them written somewhere that they can't be lost. ;-)

Odd as 2009 was uninstalled, but understood.
Thanks again!

As I understand it if you bought the upgrade (as opposed to full) then it would know to ask for the serial number of the earlier version
Of course the TI uninstaller is well known for not uninstalling everything :-)

LOL, I learned the hard way!
Cheers and Happy Holidays!
