Error E00000405: Can anybody explain how I can use my images?

Thread needs solution

I make backups with Acronis True Image Home 11 on a regular base.

But when I tried to restore my system today I got the error message E00000405 (see screenshot of german dialog box in attachment). Can anybody explain me what to do and how to avoid this dialog and troubles during restore in future?

Arnold,

It would help if you could provide some additional information.  Did you boot from rescue media to perform the restore?  Booting from rescue media for the restore is the recommended solution.

When did you get the error message?  Selecting the source file? Selecting the destination drive or partition?

If you provide more information, I am sure someone will be able to help.

I have a system with several harddrives: C: (my system drive) is a SSD, whereas the image is stored in another harddisc drive.

I started Acronis under windows and started the restore dialog, selecting the image (backup) file then selecting the destination drive. After the seletion of the drive the dialog appears.

best regards for any background info why this error is shown and what to do and how to avoid it in future.
