Error E00070021

Thread needs solution

I've used Acronis True Image for a long time on my several PCs. Recently, however, the Dell XP Laptop won't produce an image of C: and it reports the above error with the text:
Cannot create the image of the logical drive C: because it is currently in use by running applications or the logical drive contains bad sectors.
I've run various scans on the drive, none of which find bad sectors. I've tried stopping every program and service that I can find prior to running True Image and that makes no difference. Anyway, the PC is in much the same state as when I last used TI.

Any help will be greatly appreciated as I hate not having a recent image.

Hello John,

I fully understand the issue you experience and will do my best to solve it.

First of all could you please clarify the exact title of the program and the build number? Please make sure that you are using the latest build of the program. Check it in Help -> About. You can always download the latest build of the program from your account under Registered Products.

Could you please check the disks for errors once again using /r parameter:

- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)

- Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r" (where DISK is the partition letter you need to check) for every partition that is visible in My Computer. Please note, that checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

If the issue persists please create Acronis Report and attach it to your next reply. Could you please download Acronis Report utility available at http://download.acronis.com/support/AcronisReport.exe and run it, create a report and send it to us. Please compress the Acronis Report output file into an archive (e.g. with WinZip). This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.

Thanks again for your help. The issue is now resolved by updating the drivers.
