Error msg--incompatability issues, please help
I am using a new Dell Win 7 64 bit PC with 12GB RAM and 3.06GHz and installed my Acronis True Image 10 Home Disk. When I go to open the application, it says it's incompatible (see attachment picture of error message). The error message says to check online for solutions...I found none. I did download and installed the download that was at my registration link, which is build 4942 and it did not solve this problem. What should I do?
Thank you.

Richard:
You can either upgrade to TI 2010 or you can try this: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/5908

Well, the disk I bought a few years ago and installed today says "Acronis True Image 10"--so if I understand correctly, that is what you told me to upgrade to, no? Also, Acronis sent me the attached email picture notice asking me to upgrade to "Acronis True Image Home 2010" and they say it was released three months ago, but I have 2010??
The link you recommended I look at is over my head, I'm a novice and find TI confusing enough.

PS I don't see an area below to add another attachment so I cannot present that to you.

True Image 10 and True Image 2010 are two different versions of the program. Version 10 is several years old. Version 2010 was just released a few months ago.
.... TI 8, TI 9, TI 10, TI 11, TI 2009, TI 2010
TI 10 is not "officially" compatible with Windows 7. TI 2010 is the first version to officially support Windows 7.

Oh, I see, TI2010 is the new one and TI10 the old one--just that dupliation of 10 gives one pause and erodes confidence in Acronis. Well, here is my present concern:
I never could get it to keep backing up properly with the schedule I set --I'd tell it I only want one incremental and it'd just make them forever so I'd have to go and full BU, then delete the old incrementals and start over...and my calls to them were difficult with their English not good. Anyway, please go here and look at these comments: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/5358
And that's just one forum with all the Acronis Win 7 problems. Do you think, perhaps, it's just best to wait until they get the Win 7 bugs worked out?
Do you have a suggestion for another backup program that is Win 7 capable that has a better reputation for working well and good support. I'm using Dell Safe local backup now but it does not give me the option of going to the backup (on my external drive) and finding a file and bringing it back to my C drive--all the backups are encoded and not recognizable.
Regarding the file attachments issue here in the forum, there is a "File Attachment" listed below but it is not a link, it is just text and clicking on it does nothing.
Thanks!

You could give Windows 7 Backup a try to see if you like it. On the plus side, it is easy to set up and it is integrated with the "Previous Versions of Files" feature of Win 7, so finding old versions of files in your backup set is simplified. On the minus side, it uses space inefficiently compared to a good imaging program like TI. But give it a try...

I like the simplicity of Win 7 BU but when I went to the BU folders on my external HD and opened them the files were named "Backup Files 1," "Backup Files 2," and so on instead of having the same names as the files on my C drive. I want to be able to go to my backup and grab a document I have messed up on my C drive, copy the back upfile and bring it back to my C drive. I just read that a free BU software, Comodo, is quite good.
Do you know of it.
Do you know of a way to use Win 7 Bu and be able to go to the BU and "see" your file names and copy them to your C drive?
Thanks for your help.
PS: Win 7 BU definitely took up more space than Dell DataSafe Local BU--you had mentioned something about Win 7 BU not using space well and I guess that shows it.

Richard:
If you have a specific file on your disk that you want to find a W7 backup for, right-click on the file and choose "Restore Previous Versions". If the file had been backed up previously it should appear in the list of previous versions.
Looking for non-specific files is not as easy. W7 backup stores files in zip format and it isn't easy to browse for files, as you found out. There is a search box if you know the file's name or part of it.
Sorry; I don't know of Comodo's backup software.
