Excessive Memory Use
I have seen lots of questions about this one, but no answers.
Acronis True Image 2014, build 6673. 12GB memory, backing up 359G of a 1.35T drive to a 1.67T external drive. Win7 / 64
After recovering individual files, Acronis ramps up to use all available memory, effectively stalling the machine.
I believe there must be a way to limit this use to a lower value.
Any solutions out there?

You might try setting the performance level to Normal see link:

Priority level is / was set to "Low"
Allow me to clarify...
1) My machine is running fine.
2) I open Acronis.
4) I close Acronis.
5) Acronis runs in the background, gradually consuming all available memory, effectively stalling my machine.
6) I open task manager
7) Under "Processes," I close Acronis, and memory use drops immediately to normal levels.
8) My machine runs fine.

Try setting the performance level to normal. I suggest this as it just could be that ATI attempting to control the performance of the machine is not liked by Windows. Therefore, setting performance level to normal should remove any attempt by the application to control the performance of the machine thus allowing Windows to do it's thing. Just might solve the issue.

As a last resort you might try a Repair install of the ATI application. You can do that by running the install file again and choosing the Repair option or, you can uninstall the app, run the cleanup utility and reinstall. There may be possible corruption of Windows system files at work here as well. From an elevated command line you can run SFC /SCANNOW command to repair but I would do this as an nothing else works solution only.
