Excessive size of images
Running Win7
TI 2014 Bootable CD
Full backup used
500GB HDD partitioned 30GB for the O/S,
Only 8 GB occupied, the rest for storage.
The last two images I have made are 25GB. The ones previously were around 2GB without programs installed.
Any idea what is going on?

Hi,
I have TI 2013 and am guessing it's similar. The only thing I can think of, assuming your software is working properly, is that you are creating an image of the entire C drive. That would include 3 partitions, the 100MB reserved for Win 7, visible when you right click on my computer then manage, then disk management, or when using the TI software, the 30GB OS and programs, and the data files partition. See my screen capture B which would be the mode that would back-up an entire C drive (I have two separate drives. C for OS and programs and D for data files). Screen capture A shows the mode where you can select the partitions for back-up. Also, where do you save the back-up image? Also, it would be good to post a screen capture of your partitions for review by others-that may be helpful. Go to my computer, right click manage, then disk management. My C screen capture attached displays my set-up.

Also thought of this. Maybe compression was turned off. See screen capture D for settings.

Phots, videos and music files do not compress very much. That is most likely the reason your images are so large.

Are you stating that the back-up image of your entire C drive, including all of the files, is 25 GB? Or is the back-up image of only the 30 GB partition(s) containing the OS, programs and 100MB Win 7 reserved is 25 GB? I have Win 7 Pro and my 100 MB reserved, OS and programs on my C drive take-up about 30 GB, with the rest of the drive empty. My TI full image of that is about 11.9 GB. See screen captures D and E. Again, it would be helpful for you to upload a screen capture of disk management showing all of the partitions, and for you to clarify exactly what's included in your full back-up.

It's the "C" partition and yes the image size was 25GB that should of been around 4 GB which was how much of that 30GB partition the O/S occupied.
No reserved partition (by design).
I used Parted Magic (bootable CD) and looked at the partition, what it showed for how much was occupied and then looked at those two image files. The numbers were reasonably close to what Windows reported for the sizes.
I decided to dump those files and restore a previous image before I loaded my programs. That file was less than 2GB. I then loaded a number of programs (all small), imaged th drive again and all was fine That image was a couple hundred MB larger as expected. Loaded more programs and the same.
I have to conclude something got corrupted somewhere on/in that partition to screw up TI somehow. I did have a weird issue with one photo editing program taking far longer to load images and advance images in it's; 'slide show' which I never had before. How that could be related is beyond me.

BTW; Using a CD version of TI 2014, all settings are at their defaults all the time unless I change them.

It was my fault. I just accepted the default for compression. I reran it again and moved the compression from normal to high. It went from 208 gb to 165 gb. THAT IS ACCEPTABLE. Both backups were backing up 225 gb. Also it was backing up mostly pictures and videos, which as you said, cannot be compressed a lot.
Sorry for running it and worrying about the details later.
