Export Backup Settings TI2015

Thread needs solution

I've been going through old threads, but don't seem to find one on exporting and importing the backup schemes in TI2015. Is there a way to do it?

I did a full rebuild of Windows and did a clean install of TI2015, but I'd rather not rebuild all of my backup plans if I can move them from my old setup.

Thx

2015 does not have the feature to import settings.

However, you can clone or duplicate individual task settings for use somewhat as a master. The clone settings is inside the task/operations folder.

This would be a really handy feature to have, export and import of settings and backup routines and their status. I'm coming up on a fresh install on Window 10 and am working on exporting setting from my apps for post-install import. This is an Acronis hole waiting to be filled.

Hello,
I too miss that feature... wonder why it has been removed from past versions.

@GroverH ; would you please be able to elaborate on how "to clone or duplicate individual task settings", as you mention "clone settings is inside the task/operations folder".

What do you mean by inside the task/operation folder ? Can you please kindly further explain or include a screenshot of what you mean ?

Thanks a milion

Luds,
I don't have 2015 currently installed so I am working from memory.

Click on one of your active backkup tasks.
There should be an "clone settings' option
It may be on the operations tab
or right click on the task name. Somewhere there is the option

Clicking the clone settings option should create a new backup task with the (1) appearing as the first letter.
This clone should have all the settings of the original.
Use the edit settings and change whateve needs to be changed in the cloned task so the clone task has a
new name
new target
new folder name
whatever else that needs to be changed.
Save the cloone task with its new name and new settings.

Variations of this is possible to make several clones or use the clones just as backups.
but you do NOT want two identical tasks with the exact same name doing backups.

Another copy option is to copy a prior backup script from a prior backup into your existing Ti installation as a new task.
Notepad can be used to examine the contents of an existing script. The task name is usually one of the first lines listed inside the script.

Copy old scrpt (*.tib.tis) from old backup from
c:\programdata\acronis\trueimagehome\scripts

Grover, you are missing the point completely. We want the ability to 'export' a file containing the structure of one or all of the defined backups. If this were done, you could subsequently reinstall Acronis, like to a new clean install of Windows, then 'import' that file to recreate the backup definitions.

My response in post #4 was in response to the question 3.

I understand your desire to have the ability to export & import. It is a useful option.
I don't work for Acronis. Write your input to them.
They seem to be removing functionws--not adding them.

Hello,
@GroverH : a huge thank you as thanks to your instructions I was able to clone settings of a backup routine. I really appreciate your time and your reply :-) !!!

For those who might read this post and wonder like me why the right click function does not work, if you have installed Build N° 6055, Acronis 2015 needs to be updated to Build N° 6613, to be able to right click on a task and access certain settings. Otherwise the option is on the operations tab at the bottom.

On a second subject which was the original topic/subject of this post, confirming the feature of importing / exporting settings is nowhere to be found with this 2015 version, and the feature has been removed. Pity, will have to revert back to 2014 version, on my side.

Again thank you to all.

Another possible option is get old tasks into the current installation is
to copy a prior backup script from a prior backup into your existing TI installation as a new task.
Notepad can be used to examine the contents of an existing script to determine which script to copy.
The task name is usually one of the first lines listed inside the script.

Copy old script (*.tib.tis) from old backup to the scripts folder of the current installation.
c:\programdata\acronis\trueimagehome\scripts

Actually, that perfect [being there is no real export/import]. We really shouldn't have to copy it in advance, since we are using a backup program.  After doing the new install of Acronis, we can just restore that folder from our old backup.  I use this 'copy the whole setup folder' for Firefox and other apps, I just never thought to look to see where the Acronis user data was kept.   Thanks.

@ GroverH:
copying *.tib.tis files is probably not sufficient, if you have scheduled tasks. The schedule seems to be stored in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\CEP\TrueImage.ctr (Win8.1)
Can you check this?

Thanks Berti. I would not surprise if schedule has to be redone. This exercise is trying to make something work which is not covered by the program. I'll check tomorrow.

Berti,
I cheked and all my saved backups have non-scheduled tasks so unable to help in proving or disproving whether copying a scheduled task from the scripts file on an old backup will work. Someone else using this procedure will need to post their results.

Although it would be great to have what we've been asking about, I've come to terms with it. I've been using Windows 10 for the past 10 months (Insider Program) and have had to do quite a few reinstalls. It's almost muscle-memory now to rebuild my three Acronis backup schemes, 10 mins.

Hello to all,

Does anybody knows what files can be saved/backed-up for the schedules tasks in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome for Windows 7 - 32Bit ?

The structure is the following folders and files:
- ArchiveOptions --> files with *.opt extention (can be opened with Notepad) can not find schedules tasks
- Database --> only the following 2 files are inside: archives.xml and mounted.xml --> (can be opened with Notepad) can not find schedules
- Logs (not relevant for this issue)
- Scripts --> --> files with *.tib extention (can be opened with Notepad) DOESN'T have scheduled tasks
- tnd --> one only file with *.set extention (persistent.set) (can be opened with Notepad) DOESN'T have scheduled tasks

Unless I have missed something the schedules tasks/jobs are nowhere to be found. Does anyone knows what files can be saved/backed-up for the schedules tasks?

Thank you.
Luds
