External Hard Drive compatibility list for the True Image 2010 boot cd?

The drive itself is usually not the problem. In most cases, when a drive isn't detected it's because the Linux drivers are incorrect or missing. For example, if the USB driver for the system isn't correct TI won't see any USB drive connected (brand, model, drive type -- doesn't matter).

You would need to boot TI on the computer and test it. If you know the chipset used on the computer, you could post it. Other users may post what worked or didn't work for them on similar systems.

That's awful. So it's entirely based on the chipset is what you're telling me? So if TI's drivers aren't avid about keeping these USB drivers up to date, is using the ISO Linux drivers my best bet?

That's the nature of Linux. Acronis doesn't have any control over that. The ISO is updated quite frequently and the other version is updated when Acronis releases a new build.

You would use the TI CD created by TI or the TI CD created from the downloaded ISO. It's generally recommended to try the TI created CD first.

Alternatives include creating a BartPE or WinPE-based CD that includes any necessary Windows drivers.

In most cases, these types of problems are only common on very newly released hardware (Linux may not have drivers for the chipset yet).

What do you think has a lesser rate of compatibility with TI - the USB driver or the network driver (for a Network Attached Storage device)?

USB is probably better supported. Some users have reported various problems with TI and network shares and/or NAS devices. However, each system is different and it's really not something that can easily be guessed at as to what will and won't work.

Is there a problem with actually booting the TI CD the computer and seeing if you can access a USB drive and a network share? This would at least let you know if the drivers are there.
