Failed to read from sector . . . failed to read the snap shot manager drive

Thread needs solution

I have been unable to backup since upgrading to version 12 from version 11. I have two backup hard drives (external hard drives in a BlacX dual docking station.) These worded very well under version 11. Initially I got the "Failed to read from sector . . . failed to read the snap shot manager drive" error message when trying to backup to both drives. I uninstalled version 12 and ran the True Image cleaner to clear out all left over references to the program and reinstalled it. Now it installs fine to one, but I get the same message when backing up to the other drive.

What happens if you swap the external drive connectors around?

Same thing. I ultimately had to uninstall 2012 and re-install 2011. I reformated both drives, changed them around. I could get one drive to do an inital backup but not the other and no incremental backups. I ultimately uninstalled 2012 and reinstalled 2011.

Update. After one update the failure to read problem went away. Now, with the most resent update, it is back.

After a while the problem just went away. I never knew what caused it or what corrected it. And I never got any help from Acronis on the problem. I have a feeling that there was some other program on my computer that was causing the problem, but that is just a guess.
