Failure to Boot: Statue: 0xc000000e

Thread needs solution

Upgraded last week to the TI Home 2012 from 2011.

This week I have had this issue twice.

First time I was able to recover via native Win7 Restore.

This time, it's seems for real for I tried all my restore points, Win7 auto repair, Acronis Backup and Acronis Backup ISO. After reboot all ended with this same error message after Windows logo appeared and attempted to launch:

Statue: 0xc000000e
Infor: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

I checked CMOS and my hard drive is priority. I see my drives during bootup...

I am now waiting via Chat (38 minutes and counting)...

I also paid for priority phone support... waiting (9 mins 44 sec so far... est wait 3 min)

Will update this post at thing develop or not....

Did you try this:

boot from the Windows 7 DVD or Windows Recovery Environment (F8)[1] and run the command prompt and then enter

sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=c:\ /OFFWINDIR=c:\windows

(replace "C:\" accodring to the drive on which you have windows installed). This will do a specific system repair, namely specifying the WINDOWS and BOOT directories

Scott,

Thank you for your suggestion! I tried but I am still getting the same Windows Boot Manager error as above.

If I have to reformat... i am going to seek a full refund...

I purchased this software and took the time to do all the backups to avoid reformating.

Still waiting on a solution from Mr. Pankj

BTW...

I am still waiting on the Chat support... 38 minutes plus the time I first posted here...

I am not feel very warm and fuzzy...

I suspect the problem is either in the backup file or the ati bootcd drivers that handle the backup source drive, so reformatting the target drive shouldn't make a diff. Also, when ati restores a disk, it takes care formatting so reformatting isn't necessary, usually and won't help ati. The poroblem here is ati can't get started becasue apparently it can't read the backup file correctly.

Yes, unfortunately Acronis is not using the method many companies have adopted more recently using a call-back system so you don't have to wait on hold for long periods of time.

Update: Just hung up with Mr. Pankj. I was on the phone call to include waiting 1 hour and 8 mins. I am pleased with the support of Mr. Panki offered. I know these things are tricky and complex so I won't pass judgement at this early stage.

My problem so far is with the wait to that I have to go through to get access to a tech. A system down plus paid tech support didn't seem to speed up my need for support. As for the paid support, I thought I would zip to a tech in five minutes. The ETA was 3 minutes. But waiting over 10 minutes is too much, not even close to the ETA but is a LOT better than my ETA of 2 minutes on the live chat. Which is still waiting over an hour so far and counting.... Dealing with a customer down scenario, we should be dropping everything and running to the chat/phone/email to get the client up and running. I just don't feel this is the case.

I am able to access my Acronis True Image Home. I am currently backing up my primary drive per Mr. Pankj advise. This may take some time so we decided to communicate later after I do a check disk from the Windows CD.

I will continue to update this as needed...

Great... Went from waiting to a screen session which I am the only one participating. Does this mean I am disconnected by Acronis?

yippe... glad i didn't close the chat window... Mohamed Ameed just joined my lonely chat

Let's see if Mr. Ameen can handle it...

I completed all the below tasks and I am still seeing the same error in the Windows Boot Manager.... Sigh...

Here are items I tried per Mr. Pankaj email:

You contacted us as you were facing an issue wherein the machine on which you
just upgraded to Acronis True Image Home 2012 Upgrade, has become unbootable and
booting attempt fails with error message as given below:

"The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible 0xc000000e"

I suggested you to take the backup of the OS, C drive. After the, please check
the C drive for errors using Windows installation Disk as per the instructions
mentioned in the link given below:

https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=6565

Once the check disk operation is complete, please try to repair the startup
options once again with the help of instructions as mentioned in the link given
below:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392

Please let me know if this resolves your issue. Also let me know if you have any
other questions. I will leave your case open until you confirm resolution. I
look forward to your response

Did you try putting the backup on a diff type of drive to determine if it's a driver issue?

Just finished the chat....

Mohamed Ameen: Please use the bootable CD and generate the Acronis System Report and send it to us. The instructions to generate the report are given at the link:
Mohamed Ameen: http://kb.acronis.com/content/23989
Mohamed Ameen: The report will help us understand the issue better.

So much for a quick fix...
