Fatal error when inserting Acronis bootable DVD

Thread needs solution

Am running Win7 Pro x64 with True Image 2013 installed.
Ran full backup and saved it to an internal hd used for such items in case C:\ fails.
I am experiencing problems with Windows and went to restore the backup I made by inserting the Acronis disk that states it is a bootable disc and users guide indicates that I can select my backup for a restore.

When I put the disc in dvd drive an restarted the computer I get the message..word for word..

Acronis Loader Fatal Error......Boot drive (Partition) Not Found
Press (Enter) To Try To Boot Your OS

After pressing enter Windows loaded normally.

What is going wrong? Have I missed a step somewhere? Could it be a defective disc?
When first installing True Image 2013 all went well and program is working just fine so it does not seem that anything is wrong with the disc but I repeatedly get the error.

I would certainly like to know what if anything I'm doing wrong and if nothing then what can I do.

What operating system do you have?

Use the Media Builder in True Image to create a new bootable Rescue Disk, either on CD-R or USB flash drive and try booting from it.

Created the new rescue disk and re-starte computer and the same error message as before popped up.

The way I understand it the rescue media allows a user to boot the computer and after that the pragram directs you to lacate the backup source and then proceed to replace the created backup onto the system (C:\) drive. Is that correct?

In other words the rescue media if booting and there should be nothing else on it, only the rescue files, around 160MB in my case and once booted the rest is restoring the system. Is my understanding correct?

Oh.. and thanks for helping out.....

Here's an interesting turn of events regarding my issue.

I went into my backup computer and opened TI 11 which I have on that machine and created a bootable repair disc that I then tested out and it loaded just fine and the option screen came up just like it should.

Then I took that disc to my main computer and rebooted and by golly the same error message popped up!!!!

Now there can only be three different answers to that.
1. There is a problem with my CD/DVD drive.
2. There is a problem with Windows.
3. There is a problem TI 13.

First- the drive works just fine and any other bootabe disc (Windows install disc for example) loads just as it should.
Second- I do have an unrelated problem with windows in that system restore no longer works and there seems to be no other recourse but to do a complete re-install of windows since I have been trying to resolve that one for a couple of weeks with no luck from any source I contacted.
Third- It could be that the Acronis install went wrong somewhere and that could be why the rescue media won't load becuse of some glitch in the program.

So I can eliminate item #1
Items #2 and #3 can be resolved by doing the hd format and windows reinstall. I will mention here that I already did a repair install of the OS by choosing that option from the windows install disk after it loaded when the computer was rebooted but it did not help with the Sys Restore problem.

All this leads me to believe that some bug of one description or another got into my system.
Now I am using Kaspersky Pure 3.0 and definitions are updated daily and scans are run on a regular basis so I can not see how one got through but nothing is imposible when it comes to computing.

I have run scannow and chkdsk and malicious content remover from microsoft and no problems have been reported. I have run Advanced System Care disk cleanup application with the malware scan enabled and no problems found.

Long story short my time would be better spent doing the format/install and reloading all my programs from scratch since I want no possibility of a carry over from some backup made on a potentially infected system.

So thanks for the help....and gotta go....got some work to do.

Update to previous post.

I completed format/reinstall of OS and all went well.
Again created bootable disk for rescue through Media Builder and tested it out and same message appeared.

So then inserted that same disk in by backup computer with Acronis True Image 2011 installed and rebooted that computer with the result being that it launched just fine and was ready for my input as to what to backup. It worked just as it should.

Now I am completely stumped as to what the heck is going on.
I guess my next step is to contact Acronis directly and see what they have to say.

It may be that your PC includes some key hardware that the Rescue Media doesn't support. Definitely contact Acronis about it, and they will likely request that you send an Acronis System Report.

As a matter of fact I contacted Acronis Support via Live Chat and spoke with a Rep. regarding the issue and though they did not hint about hardware they did suggest that I change my CD/DVD drive from AHCI to IDE or visa versa and try again. They also sent a link to a "customized" ISO file to download and burn to disk. The file was 385MB and the computer just booted to windows when inserted. Completely ignoring the disc in the drive.

Both my HDD's and my CD/DVD drive are SATA. I went into System Bios, which is a UEFI bios, and noticed the drive was set up AHCI in the Boot menu so I backtracked to Advanced/Storage Configuration and changed it from AHCI to IDE. Now at his point I want to say that my Motherboard (ASROCK 990FX Extreme4) manual states to get better performance in Windows 7 64 Bit use AHCI, but I changed it to IDE anyway.

Went back to Acronis Program and created a new bootable disk on CD-RW media since it will not allow DVD-RW media to be used.
Inserted that disc and booted and by gosh it loaded and got me back in business.

I have yet to try it out if I reset my Storage Configuration back to AHCI as the motherboard manual suggests but it is good to know that at least I will be able to restore my system from a backup. But to be honest I have not noticed any appreciable decline in performance and the manual states that either AHCI or IDE mode is acceptable. The AHCI includes NCQ and Hot Plug functions. Those are mostly used for RAID applications so I think I'll leave all as is.

On a second note I'll mention that Live Chat on Acronis's web site is flaky to say the least. I kept getting disconnected when logged in and it took about five attempts to gain any information at all. I will wait and see if I get an e-mail with a survey to rate my experience with Chat and list that little comment. If they do not send a questionnaire I will e-mail support and let them now that the feature needs a little tlc.

Thank you tuttle for your support.

Probably you did not burn the ISO as a bootable image. Burning an ISO to a bootable CD is not the same as just copying a file to a CD.

In Windows 7, you don't need any third-party software. Right-click the .iso and select "Burn disc image".
