Fed up long term Acronis user.
I've been using Acronis since 2005 and I'm ready to throw in the towel. Two issues.
Issue #1: Regarding Acronis TI 11 build 8101. I have this version installed on my laptop as well as my new desktop which is a clone from my laptop. This version has, in the past, ran flawlessly. I'm running Windows XP Home sp3.
For some reason (since Jan 2010), every time I attempt to make a new clone from the existing state of my computers, I go through the clone process but no clone is produced.
Here's the process. I start ATI 11 and it starts just fine. I go into the clone wizard and start the clone process (everything functions as it should). The reboot process starts and Acronis begins it's usual checks. But, when it gets to the point where it should begin the actual cloning process (displaying the progress bar) it just comes up with the "Congratulations, Success!" dialog a few seconds later without making the clone. NOTE: I shut down my anti-virus and Process Guard apps before attempting the clone (as I have always done resulting in a successful clone every time) But not any more.
I'm not a newbie and have years of experience with computers and software. I'm not getting any errors and nothing shows in the logs. I have many thousands of dollars of software on my systems and can not afford to lose it. I have searched and searched for the solution to this problem with no success. The frustration level has pegged the meter!
The last time I attempted to resolve this problem I was persuaded to purchase Acronis 2010. But being a bit of a skeptic about new release anything, I decided to wait before installing it to see what the fall out would be. I'm glad I waited as it appears that latest version is fraught with problems. I'm a very busy person and just don't have time to continually fight software problems that apparently go unresolved.
Issue #2: I paid for the 2010 full version but decided NOT to install it due to all the problems everyone has been having. I have promoted Acronis as an affiliate for a long time but have come to the conclusion that I no longer believe in the product and therefore will not be promoting it any longer. I have totally lost faith in this once highly regarded product. I would like my money back for the 2010 version since I will never install it. I sincerely doubt that anyone from Acronis gives a rip about these issues nor whether I am a satisfied customer. My email address is on file if anyone cares to respond.

Richard,
You say that your desktop is a clone of your laptop. Is your desktop a branded machine and from the same manufacturer as the laptop?
I think this might be where your problem may lie due to different hardware versus what the laptop registry will hold. Have you tried a re-install of TI.
Harry,
Have you posted what your problem is? If so, could you provide a link to your post?

The desktop was cloned from my laptop but all the registry data was customized for the new desktop. I have already made a clone from my desktop and it worked fine. Other than the typical problems I've ALWAYS had getting Acronis to begin the clone process.
My new desktop is a custom build. I'm also having the same problem trying to do a new clone for my laptop. I do a monthly clone of each as well as weekly full backups.
I have done a clean install of TI but the problems remain. My attempts to get the problems solved through the helpdesk have been a total joke. Usually never get a even so much as a reply or the reply is so generic it's of no value whatsoever.
Like I said, I'm not a neophyte. And up until March 2010 I was able to make my usual clones. That's when TI just decided not to work anymore. In March when things started going goofy, I even tried to go back to an earlier restore point to see if there was some sort of problems with windows update package. Didn't help.

Richard,
As it relates to TrueImage Home,
When cloning or restoring, your best chance of results is when performing the restore when booted from the TI Rescue/Recovery CD.
and to make sure that only the new disk connected on first boot following a clone or system restore.
Sometimes different procedures will work but other times, the above is the only procedures which will work.

GroverH,
I've been using the same process for over five years. I'm not trying to do a restore. (read above) Something arbitrary in the software has caused the problem. I've even done a BartPE in an effort to getting things back in running order. Running BartPE might even have been part of the problem. I can't say for sure. But it seems to me, that's about the time the problems became severe enough to stop me in my tracks.
Like I said, Acronis has been no help at all in resolving the problem.
