File backup by custom category adds unwanted files

Thread needs solution

I want to do a file backup of all my *.PSD Photoshop files, for example. I've created and selected my custom category without any problem. I've also created several other category backups of this type.

In every such backup, ATIH 2012 automatically selects the entire My Documents folder as well. I don't want all my documents included in every single backup! If I de-select My Documents and Save the backup settings, it's re-selected next time I open Backup Settings.

How can I back up my custom category ONLY? Thank you,

-Doug

Douglas,

You need to untick the My Documents selection, under, if using Vista/W7, the User folder, and just have the file path existing under your category choice, also make sure that you have selected 'Only following file types' as it defaults to all files in that directory.

Colin, Thank you for your help.

Can you please take a look at the attached screenshot? The ONLY thing that I want to back up is "My category 3" which represents all my .PSD files, all of which live under D:\Pictures. But ATIH keeps checking "My Documents" also, and when I un-check it, it's re-checked next time I open the settings dialog.

Thank you!

Douglas,

I think the re-checking of the My Documents is a visual bug.

I selected My Category 3, opted for txt,xml and 'only following file types', and then unticked Users (note in my case this caused the folder above My Documents to be ticked, so I unticked this also). Looking at the script file all seems well.

I then ran the task which contained a 21KB file.

The destination tib file contained the 21KB file (ABR11 Data FHI.xml) plus a template of part of the User folder, but no actual contents. This might be because I selected the contents of the 2012 Sync folder as the source.

Note the last png is me reading the file back using ABR11 instead of TIH 2012 (they're on two different PC's), so if you open up the tib file in TIH2012 you won't see quite the same display.

When I 'edit' the task, like you the My Documents folder is reticked, but the task script stays the same.

Hi Douglas Laudensch...

I experienced this bug as well with the "Desktop"Folder / path. I report this to acronis. In the new build they could fix it.

I checked the contents of my backups, and this does indeed seem to be just a "visual bug" as Colin B suggested. The "My Documents" folder that keeps getting checked is NOT in fact included in the backed up files.

Thank you all for your help!
