Folders not being excluded when useing ATI Full backup from Bootable Rescue Media.

Thread needs solution

I been a long user of Acronis True Image and recently upgraded to Acronis True Image Home 2010 (ATIH 2010) to coincide with my upgrade to Windows 7.
I am using ATIH 2010.5055 build

The first Issue I came across is that when doing a disk partition image I want to exclude a few folders from the image.
For example:
C:\MP3\
C:\DVD\

This works fine if I using ATIH 2010 from within windows. Those folders will not show up in the image tib file.

But if I use ATIH 2010 Full version from the bootable rescue media, made in the windows version of ATIH 2010, and exclude the same folders they are still included in the image tib file.
Therefor there is a bug in the Linux version of ATIH 2010 on the bootable rescue media, where it is not excluding requested folders.

The second issue I have which I am very surprised has not been address by the latest version of ATI is archive splitting.
Why are we still limited to DVD 4.7 GB max tib split size?
Why are there not options for DVD-DL 8 GB tib sizes?
Why are there not options for BD 25 GB tib sizes?
Why are there not options for BD-DL 50 GB tib sizes?

LM:

I believe you are exactly correct about the "bug" when using bootable rescue CD disk.

As for splitting the archives, you can specify the size you want.

I have encountered the same problem. i.e. folder exclusion does not work if TIH 2012 is run from the CD. It has been almost 4 years since the original report of this bug. Apparently in 2012 version it is not yet fixed, is it fixed in 2013 version?

Hello everyone!

I have to inform you that we tested it on True Image 2012 build 7133 and on True Image 2013 build 6514 and folders were successfully excluded.
Could you please tell us -
1. Which build of True Image you used.
2. It will be very helpful if you'll take some pictures of the process when you're setting your backup under bootable media and send it to us too.

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
Sergey.

How do I upgrade to TIH2012 build 7133? I use TIH2012 build 7119 in win7, when I click "check for updates", it says "you are using the latest version".

my CD is older than 7119 because I recall after I install from CD, I did an online update once. so my question is, how do I update to 7133 and assuming I can do that, can I create a CD to boot into build 7133 to do a backup?

Log in to your account at www.acronis.com. Look under My updates and downloads.

Thank you Thomasjk for your help, you are absolutely correct!

Mr. Liu did you find the latest build? We will wait for the news from you.

Kind regards,

Sergey

Well, I registered the serial code of my TIH 2012, and I looked at "My updates and downloads", it listed my product as TIH 2010, not 2012. Why? my account is sliu2005 at gmail.com

Now I am downloading TIH2012 from "product updates" and will give it a try. I assume I'll install the update on top of my existing version, and create a rescue media. Let's see how it goes.

Edit: never mind, I entered the 2010 code so I only saw 2010 update. After entering 2012 code, I am downloading the iso image. Will let you know.

It still does not work. I burned the 7133 build iso to a CD and boot from it, in options, I removed all other exclusions, added C:\Temp\
I made sure to put the trailing \ at the end of the path, per previous threads.
I made the tib file, then boot back to Win7, run the Windows version of ATIH 2012, mounted the new tib file. C:\Temp folder is still in the mounted drive.

I attached screen shots showing the file/folder exclusion screen and ATIH 2012 Build 7133 Help About screen..

Steven,
Simulate redoing the backup again.
Boot from the new TI recovery CD.
Choose Backup
Examine the screen carefully.
What drive letter is assigned by Acronis to your normal C drive?
If it is drive letter D, then you will need to add the exclusiion as
d:\temp\
As there is no checks by the program, whatever you type will be acccepted--even if mistyped.

On my Windows 7 system, the Recovery CD lists the non-lettered system partition as Drive C and the normal Drive C windows 7 is listed as Drive D.

Just a thought which you mgiht want to verify.

Hi GroverH,

you are absolutely right! Win7 created a small 100MB recovery partition first, followed by the normal Windows partition (C drive). the Windows partition is labeled as D drive in AITH. Can't believe I missed that. After I changed the folder to D:\Temp\, it was successfully excluded from tib file. Thank you so much! You are my hero!

So this is not a bug on Acronis part. my apology for jumping to conclusion.

Problem solved and all is well now.
