FTP Auto re-route

Thread needs solution

I am testing ATI 2010 on an XP machine (and Vista and Win 7). I plan to have 3 levels of backup; a once or twice per month partition image to my 1TB drive, a 2 am 5 day per week important files to the 1TB drive, and a 3 am weekly important files to an off site ftp server.

I tried to set up the ftp scheduled backup for last night; came in this morning and there was nothing on the ftp site. I looked in the Log, it was written to the "K:" drive (my 1TB). I edited the task in "scheduled tasks" and saw the destination was changed from the ftp location to K:. I am 99.9% sure I put the ftp address in there properly. I remember fighting with that stupid popup for the user/password.

So I made an unscheduled task to backup to ftp. This time it actually wrote stuff to the ftp site and it looks to be about the right size, BUT upon editing the unscheduled task, I see the destination is showing the K: drive location not the ftp location.

Why? And how do I make this work?

2) Is the standalone workstation (SaW) version more reliable and bug-free than ATI 2010. I could not find a comparison between the two. Does the SaW support Vista and Win 7? I like some features of ATI that don't seem to be included in SaW; bare metal restore to dissimilar hardware, continuous backup, etc. But, it seems, even the most basic functions do not work in ATI. Backup software needs to be reliable.

Thanks,
Barry.

I have been able to successfully use 2010 to make ftp backups.

Though I did run into several issues, possibly yours.
Here is what I know works (works for me).
1) start by creating a brand new job, do not clone an existing task
2) when it comes time to specify the backup location click browse
then "create ftp connection"
fill in the three fields ftp_path/username/password then click test connection button.
once your connection is valid. click "ok" to get back to the window with the title
"browse for location"
at this point the filename field will start with "ftp://" then go on from there with what you put in on the other panel
something along the lines of
ftp://myserver.domain.com/
there is not yet a filename on the above string "ok" button is greyed out.
now this is where it gets weird.
with the ok button greyed out your kinda stuck on this panel
I append onto the ftp://myserver.domain.com/
as filename string of
x.tib
at this point the ok button is still greyed out.
I now hit the backspace key four times getting rid of the .tib and leaving the letter "x"
the instant I delete that 4th character the "ok" button is live and one can the click it.
you are then brought back to the original/first panel for defining an archive location.
the filename field is is now populate though surprisingly it is missing the "x"
(told you got weird).
so now at this point you append what you really want as a filename suchas
ftp://myserver.domain.com/my_ftp_backup.tib

with the ".tib" the "next" button becomes live and you can press on with defining the job.

a key element to change is to visit the tab "backup method" and change the radio button
to "full" (I also specify the check mark for a new full overwrites the existing).

given all of the above, my ftp backup job works
