Full Backup 73.74Gb but Windows 8 say's 25Gb
Hi, sorry if this has been asked, but I could not find it through search.
My last full backup was 27Gb, tonight its shot up to 73.74Gb, however clicking on the tib file in Windows says it 25Gb which is what I would have thought it would be, as I've deleted 3Gb recently.
So is TI displaying the image size incorrectly within the program and any ideas why.
Sector by sector is not on, compression is set to normal and the log says it's a good image.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

Pat L, thanks for that, validating the back-up changed the size to 25Gb.
Another thing I noticed was that although I do a full back-up each time and on third I delete 1st, I see version number which varies.
Any idea what this relates to, I name each back-up with the name of PC followed by date.

Steve,
Perhaps I am mis-interpreting your comments and I am also interpreting that you are performing only "full" backups with no inc or diff types.

This sounds like you are doing the deletes yourself rather than have the program do the deletes automatically. The illustration below will do the deletes automatically and set the number to 2 if that is the number of full you wish to keep. A manual deletion of a backup file would cause the name of next to differ from the priiors

The name of the backup file is assigned only once when the task is created. Each backup created by the task will have the same name and not requirfe any input from the user. When the task is run manually, you place the cursor inside the backup task and click on the "Backup now" option located in extreme right margin of that specific task. All settings from the original task creation carries into all the following backups.
The following is an extract from signature link 2 below.
set the number to 2 if that is the number of full you wish to keep
Figure 11-Full: Example of custom/full backup method settingsIf using Full backups only, this is a recommended method. These automatic cleanup settings will provide for automatic deletion of the oldest backups after the "Store no more than X number of chains" quota has been reached.
In this example, deletion of oldest backup will occur immediately following creation of backup #5.
Allow space for 1 more full backup in addition to "Store no more than X number of chains" as the program will NOT delete the oldest full until its replacement has been successfully created.

GroverH, well I've been using TI since 2010, and now I find I've been doing wrong.
Thank you for explaining this.
I've been creating a new full back-up each time, and often wondered why on the right of the previous back-up it said back-up/recover

Glad I was able to help. If you have some spare reading time, link 2 below may help more. Note especally, the very first illustation which shows my recommended type of backup to be the "disk image" or "disk mode" backup.
