Yes, the current build does have the problem of the default settings not holding in the GUI as you describe. Hopefully, it will be fixed in the next build but this problem does not prevent you from creating your full backups as the backup task needs only created once.

There is NO NEED TO set or change settings every time you want to create a backup. The backup task which created the prior backups is available or is normally available.

Open TrueImage , browse into the existing backup task and click the BACKUP NOW option and the backup will begin.

Or,

Browse into the backup task and RIGHT click on the SETTINGS option.
Click "MORE "
Click "CREATE SHORTCUT"
and a shortcut will be placed on your desktop in the same name as your backup task.
Then, without opening TrueImage, whenever you want a backup to be created, just dbl click on the shortcut icon and a backup will begin using the same setting as you created at time of task creation.

However, my suggestion is that you start fresh and set up automatic cleanup so you do not have to manually delete backup files.
I really would suggest that you start over creating new backup task but with a custom backup scheme as illustrated in link #2, illustration 11-Full. The settings on 11-Full show you how to configure the number of full's you want to keep and the program will delete the oldest on a "new in--old out" basis. For recovery purposes, it is never the best idea to keep only the current backup as most often a file problem does not show immediately and you need to go back further than 1 or 2 backups in order to find a clean backup file.

After you create the new backup TASK , then create the new shortcut and use your shortcut for your regular un-scheduled backups. Or, you can open the program and click the "BACK UP NOW" option.

Note: it is the practice of the program to create the replacement file before deleting the older file so you must plan space needs for one extra full backup in your calculation of how space requirements.
