Full backup fails if any file can't be backed up

Thread needs solution

Is there a way to handle errors on full backups (complete disk)? Every time Acronis runs into a file that won't backup ... for example it's open ... the whole backup fails, and I have nothing. I had to restore a file today, and learned it was never backed up and none of the backups I thought were made exist.

You should consider supplementing your backup procedures by booting into the Acronis bootable CD and perform backups when booted from the CD. Be sure and checkmark the validation option so to be done as part of the backup procedure.

In other words, the software doesn't tell you there's a problem - it just submarines you, and you find out when it's too late! So you have to manuallyh do something to overcome poor software design?

Hi Paul,

User has control over what is included within the backup. The type of backup that is best is the all inclusive disk backup (disk mode). This is a backup of all partitions and includes everything on the disk.

There is a log file created on each backup which indicates success or problems on each backup. Hopefully, you also chose the validation option to be performed after each backup. Validation is to check the data is written properly to disk.

I agree that the log file could be more explicit about its messages. I am just a user like you offering a suggested workaround until you get your issues resolved. There is much to learn about the options provided by this software.
