Full Event code string of the error message?

Thread needs solution

I have received the following backup error for about two weeks:

Details: Operation with partition '2-0' was terminated.
Details:
Failed to create volume snapshot. (0x70021)
Tag = 0xA5695862AAF8E690
Failed to obtain the snapshot state. (0x10C44A)
Tag = 0x14181C22EF45AF67
Reached the end of the file (0xFFF0)
code = 80070026)
Tag = 0xBD28FDBD64EDB8B9
More information can be found at: http://kb.acronis.com/errorcode/
Event code: 0x000101F6

That link asks for a "full event code." What's that? If I enter as many as I can deduce, it simply says to look up each one. That leads me to a series of completely unrelated entries in various languages. All I want to know is how to fix this error.

I am trying to do an incremental backup of C: and D:

First, have you run chkdsk /r on the affected partitions?

Second , is this a standard PC or a server?

Third, what Acronis product and build are you using?

Fourthly, does the original Full still validate?

Fifthly, have you tried making an image via the rescue CD?

So, your response is five possibilities? I guess that's an improvement over the absurd number that I found in the "knowledge base." It's still a pathetic answer to the question: That link asks for a "full event code." What's that?

I think I'll look for a more understandable solution to PC backup and Recovery.

David,

#1 is the first thing you need to run, as if TI thinks there is a problem with the disk it either won't image it all reporting various error messages or it won't be able to make a snapshot of the drive.

#2 If this is a Server, it is possible that background programs might be such as SQL/Exchange databases might prevent the drive being locked, so a snap shot cannot be made - PC's are less likely to be running transactions of this type.

#3 If you don't answer this one, it is like phoning a car mechanic and saying 'my car doesn't work, why not'? Knowing which version or build or make and model of car, might well help provide the answer to your problem.

#4 This will tell whether the problem is imaging full stop or only making incrementals or differentials. Again this might help narrow down what part of TI (if it is TI ) is causing the problem.

#5 This will tell us whether some major disk problem lurks - if the version of TI running in Linux has a problem with the drive, then we know that neither Windows or TI are probably the problem.

There is actually a sixth possibility which is a RAM problem as the snapshot manager holds the information in RAM, giving RAM quite a work out more than most games, so if the RAM is failing under pressure, TI won't work properly.

Perhaps you can now recognise the questions were/are trying to lead somewhere.
