Hang at please wait using recovery disc
Hey guys, I'm using the trial of TrueImage 2009 on Windows XPx64 SP3.
I created a recover disc, and when I try to boot to it, it loads a screen asking for me to selection TrueImage or Windows. When I click TrueImage, it hangs on Loading, please wait...
Any thoughts? or a log file written someplace?
Thanks!

Hello Jake,
Thank you for your interest in [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ | Acronis True Image]]
I am sending the ISO file to your via PM, please create another Acronis Bootable Rescue Media and see if the issue remains. This CD is based on an alternate loader, the issue should be resolved.
Thank you.

Thanks very much for your time. I tried the new image with the various options. With the "no quiet" options the same thing happens everytime:
Eventually it gets to sdb: and hangs there for a bit. Then moves on an says
Exception on Emask 0x0 SAct 0x SErr
then it runs through it a few times each time brining down the speed of the interface until it gets to Limiting Speed ATA/33.
Eventually it says Buffer I/O device SDB Logical Block 0.
ATA7.00 Status: {DRDY}
ATA7: Hard Resetting Link
ATA7: SATA Link Up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 310)
Configured for UDMA/33
EH Complete.
It just does that over and over again. I have a feeling that its trying to use the second disk of my RAID (RocketRaid 231x/230x set to RAID1) as a seperate disk.
Any thoughts on what I can do about this?
I had Norton Ghost, but it was very riddled with problems. Hover the boot disk worked fine. I am very pleased with the backup portion of Acronis True Image, but it won't do me much good if I can't use the rescue disk.
Thank you for your help,
Jake

Hello Jake,
Thank you for your response.
Boot from the latest media, you will get the "boot:" prompt. In the prompt type the following parameters as shown below:
kernel.dat initrd=ramdisk.dat vga=0x317 irqpoll quiet
And check if the issue persists.
Thank you.

I have a backup of my entire disk c which I have saved on two external USB hard drives and one internal hard drive; i. e. I have three copies of the same backup. I am unable to restore this image from any of the drives. When I allow Acronis to reboot my computer, which the program recommends since I am restoring the entire hard drive image to the hard drive that has been imaged and which contains my operating system and other programs, after reboot, I get the message "Please wait, Acronis is loading".Nothing happens after that. The Acronis loading screen simply stays in place, hour after hour.
I have version 8, build 937. I can "explore" the image, but now I need to restore it because of several program corruptions.

Hi Oleg, thanks for your continued support. Unfortunately that command string resulted in the same issue.
I've read about people building BartPE boot disks and using an Acronis plugin for that.. is that something I can do with this version of TrueImage?
If so, can you point me to some instructions on how to do it?
thanks again!

Thank you,
Jake

Hello Jake,
Actually, the issue you experienced with our Standalone Version is not common, that's why it should be investigated. Despite your trial expiration, could you please collect the following information?
Could you please boot your computer from Acronis True Image rescue disc and press CTRL+ALT+F2 keys after getting to GUI. Wait for # prompt to appear. Please insert a Flash disk to a USB port and issue the following commands:
# cat /proc/partitions
This will give you the list of partitions/drives available in your system.
For example:
8 0 127744 sda
8 1 127744 sda1
3 0 80417183 hda
3 1 10241406 hda1
3 2 20482875 hda2
3 3 1020127 hda3
Flash drive's partition is visible as 'sdXY' (X - disk letter, Y - partition number). If there are some scsi devices in your system you may find your flash by partition/drive size. If the flash is partitioned it will bring the list of partitions as well.
We discovered that your USB flash drive is detected as sdb.
Then you need to create a mount point for your flash and mount it.
# mkdir /mnt/tmp
# mount -t auto /dev/sdb /mnt/tmp
There can be some warning messages but it is safe to ignore them. If mount fails you may try to use 'vfat' (if the flash is formatted to FAT file system) or 'ext3' or 'ext2' (if its formatted to ext3 or ext2) parameter instead of 'auto' .
Make a directory on your flash drive to save files to it:
# mkdir /mnt/tmp/sysinfo
Check whether the drive is mounted correctly for writing access:
#ls /mnt/tmp
This will give a list of files/folders located on the drive.
Save 'sysinfo' and unmount the flash drive:
# sysinfo > /mnt/tmp/sysinfo/sysinfo26.txt
# umount /mnt/tmp
After that, please boot your operating system and do the following:
- Download the file from here;
- Run the downloaded file
- Send us the files created.
The gathered information will be put in adv_report.zip in the same folder, where the AcronisInfo was saved.
Running AcronisInfo may take up to 5 minutes.
Then submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the issue appears and the link to this thread. We will do our best to investigate the problem and provide you with a solution.
Thank you.
