have family pack for Acronis 2013- was on 3 PCs, 1 died, want to now insall on a new PC with Win. 8.1
OK, so I have the family pack for 3 PCs (Acronis 2013)- until recently I had it installed on 3 PCs- but 1 PC died. I replaced that with a new Dell running Windows 8.1. Do I first need to somehow unregister the installation on the dead computer before I install Acronis on the new PC? Since, if I don't, and I then try to register it from the new PC, Acronis will think I'm trying to install it on a 4th PC.
I had thought there was a way to officially unregister an installation on the Acronis web site, but maybe I'm confusing this with some other software.
Also, I'm surprised that Acronis 13 is already not being supported, officially.

Grover, OK- so my choice is to upgrade just for 1 PC or for the family pack.
Next critical question: since I don't have the version 13 on my new PC- when I download the upgrade to install it on the new PC, hopefully it won't go looking for version 13. I presume since I had registered 13, Acronis 15 will install OK.
thanks!

The upgrade is a standalone install so you donot need for any Acronis to be installed,
however, you will need to input both the 2013 and the 2015 serial number as part of the installation--if your purchase is an upgrade.
As the serials are 64 characters, it is best to copy and paste each serial into the proper window.
Do not try to type the numbers.
Easiest way is once you get your 2015 serial, is to register it into your account and then click the "Get serials" option and that will allow you to save ALL your T I serials into a 'serials.txt" text file which makes for easy copying from.
You can also get the 2015 installation file from your acct once you have registered the 2015 serial.
My signature link 9 below can help.
My suggestion is that you uninstall 2013 but Acronis says it will install ok overtop.
PS: Suggest you use the description 2013 or 2015 rather than 13 or 15. Avoid confusion as 2015 is not version 15, etc.

thanks again, Grover- I know you're one of the most active participants in this forum and you have written a lot on these programs- I have some printed out for reference
by the way, at the bottom of this screen, I see it's check to "notify me when new comments are posted" - but that isn't happening- I just checked my profile in my account and the listed email address is correct, so I wonder why I'm not getting the responses--- of course I just check here to see them but it would be nice if that feature worked- I recall noticing this "problem" years ago- maybe I'm just an unlucky guy for whom it doesn't work, I don't know-- also, to post the message, it says "Save"- kinda strange, no?

Grover, after reading some of the "stickies"- I am now cautious about purchasing Acronis 2015. Are you saying that Acronis 2013 will not work with Windows 8.1? Not at all? After reading all those messages- I now will consider other programs.

Yes, 2013 will not work correctly with 8.1.

Grover, while I still have your attention- I see plenty of complaints against ATI 2015 in this forum. Do you use 2015? Do you agree with their complains or do you like it?

For each of those users which have posted complaints, the problems are real for them. Some are the fault of the program and some are the fault of the user having no experience with TrueImage.
Some complaints are not about not working but complaints about the functions offered. Most certainly, the 2015 is different than any prior issue. For some, it is a downgrade due to lack of features.
For the user who wants just a plain backup and restore function, 2015 fits that need for "most" in that category.
Yes, I have 2015 installed on a Asus Win 7 with mbr type partitioning. "Most" of the features missing, I do not miss.
I am however, disappointed in the 2015 release having so many issues. Maybe after the next couple new builds (bug fixes) , the 2015 will become more settled but then it will be time for the new 2016 version.
You should learn more about your equipment. Know whether you have mbr or GPT style partitioning.
Know how may partitions you have and where located.
Lots of past postings out there for reference. Help files along left margin.
The more you learning of your equipment, the better prepared you are to perform your restores and to create replacement disks.

Grover, I have a brand new Dell with 64 bit Win 8.1 and the boot drive is SSD. I presume it's GPT, but this is something I never heard of until looking at this Acronis forum messages. What little I now know- I presume it's GPT.
thanks again,
Joe
PS: why do I never get a notice in email to replies in messages that I post to? I have the item below checked and in my Account- it's only in this forum that such a feature doesn't seem to work, for me... it's frustrating because the forum doesn't have an easy way to find my postings- in other forums, they have a link that brings up all my postings all in one place ...

This can help.
GH56. Easy way to find posting by yourself or others.
Or, click your "My account" option (along left margin) and look at your own postings
either those you originated (created forum topics)
or those which you responded (commented forum topics)
Each time you post, before you click the save button,
look immediately above the save button and make sure the box is checed to get notification.
In another of your postings, you were already instructed to look in your personal web settings.
Have you checked your spam box with BOTH your email provider as well as your email client on your desktop? Make that @ACronis email addrewss is enabled.
Here are some examples showing info about how to see info about your own computer.

Grover, my Computer Management window looks different on my Win 8.1 machine- it doesn't have the column for "partition style". I finally see how to find my messages in My Account- couldn't find it before. I'll try the command prompt when I get a chance, though I get nervous in there!
I don't have a spam box in my email program (Outlook 2013)- maybe my provider (Time-Warner) is blocking emails from Acronis- but, now that I can track down my messages, I can live without the email notices.
thanks again!
