Help file in french rather than english
I've just updated to Acronis True Image Home 2012 build 6131 on my Windows 7 (64 bit) computer. I also created a new bootable media (CD), as the update info on Acronis's website said that the bootable media had also been updated.
I then did a test to go through the initial stages of recovering a full disc image when starting my computer from the new bootable Acronis disc (the backup file I was using was created under the previous version of ATIH 2012), and have noticed the following differences:
1. With the Acronis recovery boot disc in the CD drive, the start-up procedure seems to produce a fleeting error message on the screen, on the way to getting to the "Acronis UEFI loader starting" screen. It's too quick to see what it actually says, but it's something to do with unable to load (I think) a shared file.
2. When Acronis True Image then starts, if I click on the Help icon, all the help is in french! (With the original ATIH 2012 bootable media CD, the help file was, correctly, in english).
I then repeated the process using the original Acronis boot disc and I didn't see the error message, and the help file is in english. So, I would prefer to use the original boot disc, but I'm not sure whether it will work if I took the whole recovery process right through to the end.
Has anyone else noticed this or got any comments?

G Budd,
Try to download the latest bootable ISO from your ACronis.com account, burn it as an ISO to a blank CD and try with that.

I can't find anywhere on Acronis.com that refers to a downloadable bootable ISO. Do you have a URL where it appears?

Remember, that you have to register your serials before the possible downloads appear in the list

I've only got the trial version of ATIH 2012 so far, and although I have registered the serial number, I don't get the option to download the bootable ISO. Perhaps this only works once you've actually bought the full licence (not just the trial version)? If so, it's not a lot of good, as I want to get to the bottom of this issue before I decide to buy the product.

G Budd,
Since you are in trial, contact Acronis support with your issue. They should be able to point you to a downloadable ISO to try. You are right this is an essential thing that has to work for your computer.
The alternative is to buy the Acronis Plus Pack, which allows you, after it is installed, and after you have donwloaded the right package from Microsoft, to create a WinPE-based disk. This disk, contrary to the bootable ISO/medium, is Windows based and therefore doesn't have all the driver issues that the linux version has.

Thanks Pat L,
Perhaps if a WinPE based boot disk is the better alternative, then should I just use the free Windows 7 Backup and Restore instead (with its own bootable medium that I already have)? I must admit the only reason I was trying ATIH 2012 is that I used to use Acronis True Image 9.0 on my old XP machine, and that product never ever failed me (I used it on numerous ocasions to restore full disc images from Acronis backups, with 100% success every time). What a shame Acronis can't leave things simple (like ATI 9.0 was)!

I have been using Windows 7 Backup and Restore myself on Windows Ultimate and Enterprise and it works great. You definitely have to test it, just like Acronis. You will see that the backups and restores are a bit slower, but who cares.
