Help needed with recovery problem in TI 11
My daughter's Compaq Windows XP SP3 would not boot up last night. I used the bootable CD and was able to access the Acronis Home and attempted to run a Restore. I noticed that in the process of restoration the HDD (C) was reported to have only 30 GB when in fact her PCs HDD has 160 GB with 123 GB used. I decided to run the restore anyway and it told me that it successfully restored the C drive from the backup source an Iomega external HDD.
The mystery is that after the restore the C drive still only shows a 30 GB capacity with 5 GB free?
Does anyone have thoughts on what may be happening and any suggestions on what I can do to recover the C drive's capacity?
Should I wipe the C drive clean and then try to restore using the bootable CD and restore the C drive from the Iomega backup external drive? Is this a doable approach or is there an other way?
Many thanks for any input,
Mary

Thanks GroverH,
My daughter discovered where the C Drive capacity went! Somehow, inexplicably over 80% of the C Drive capacity was transferred to a C drive secure partition. She as able to recover it back to the primary Drive C.
Perhaps you can shed some light on why and how this occurred? I presume that this is avoidable and she did something wrong in the restore/recovery steps. She would not want have the same condition recur in the future.
She will have to go back and research the purpose and use of the secure partition.

Hopefully, you have other backups stored elsewhere. If the disk fails, any backups stored in the secure zone is lost.
Use of the secure zone is invoked by the user choosing to use the function. Its use and creation is not a requirement.
