Home 2012 on Win 7

Thread needs solution

I have Home 2012, build 6131 on a Win 7 machine. It was all installed, operating, etc. and then suddenlyi I started getting warning popups about needing to "activate."

It may be a moot issue, because it never worked properly. I had a thread going here but no one really had an answer.

So my question is, is there a new version available yet? A build that might work?

And if so, how would I get it installed from scratch? I think the only thing I can do is dump the one I havek and put a new one on since no one could ever help me get the original one to work, and the support of Acronis itself is really stinky (non-existent would be the more correct term).

There is a later build, which might or might not be less problematic for you.

You can go to acroinis.com, login and go to Product updates and download the latest build.
I would make a full diskmode backup first.

Then use msconfig to disable all non-microsoft services and all startup programs

Then uninstall the current version. You can also run the cleaner but it isn't always necessary.

Then install the newer build.

Hmm - tried posting but my response didn't appear - trying again....

I can do another removal/reinstall, but what about the licensing? Any idea why the current installation is giving me "Expired" popups?

You are not alone.

This can happen on some machines if when the machine starts up and the ati services load, ati cannot access the web to verify activation. E.g., if you access the web via a router and the network services load after ati. . .

I've had this issue with another prog that checks status via web when it loads.

Otoh, it could be a diff bug in the online activation feature. If the 6154 build doesn't help, then you might need to contact tech== be sure to read the sticky re activation first.
