How to back up in Zip format?

Thread needs solution

I would like to second the question asked by John-California in posting 26676 regarding zip formats, which appears still to be unanswered.  My question pertains specifically to Acronis 2009, but it appears to be relevant to the 2011 edition as well.

The 2009 Acronis User Guide (p. 21) says "The Zip format is available when backing up files and/or folders as well as when making reserve copies of your backups" (my emphasis).  However the only place I can find where one can specify the backup format is under making a backup reserve copy.  If I name the backup archive, say "F:\Backup.zip", then the Backup Wizard accepts it and shows that file name in the Summary, so all seems to be well.  However if later I go back to edit the backup, it now shows the backup file as "F:\Backup.zip.tib"!   Can one make backups using the zip format as the User Guide says?

Coffent,

If I remember correctly, you have to click on destination, scroll down to the browse option, then double click your way until you have opened the target folder. Then you can enter the name for the TIB files in the save box, and right below you have drop down to save either as TIB or ZIP, or even VHD file.

Thanks for the help. I tried your suggestion and I think I finally figured out what the problem is. The method you suggest does indeed give one a choice of tib or zip. My method - namely simply adding the zip extension to the desired file name (as in F:\Backup.zip, above) - works equally well. However, no matter which method one uses, if one subsequently opens the backup task for editing, it shows the target file to have been changed to "F:\Backup.zip.tib". Nevertheless, if one proceeds to run the backup, the target file created is in fact "F:\Backup.zip", not "F:\Backup.zip.tib" as the summary would indicate. Having made the first full backup, the summary shows the next incremental files named correctly, e.g. "F:\Backup2.zip". Weird!
