How to backup and restore the boot disk when i change my pc ?
Hi all !
I would like to change my pc. The new pc will have different motherboard and peripherals (graphics card, etc..). I would like to have the same configuration on the new pc (OS, programmes, etc ).
Actual OS: Windows Vista 64 bits
Actual boot drive: 931.5 GB (4 partitions)
Motherboard : ASUS Sabertooth P67
Graphics Card ASUS (?)
I have bought ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE 2014 PREMIUM
Someone could give me advices how to backup and restore ?
Can I backup only the boot partition (C:)(200GB) and save it on one of the partition of the same disk ? Could it be restore ?
How can I restore with Universal Restore ?
Thank you for your help. My idea is very confused on this subject !

Create a disk and backup backup of your system disk. When ATI shows you what to backup (a list of partitions) click on the blue "switch to disk mode" in the upper right selection frame. Then, select the system disk. Complete the backup.
Get the drivers of your new motherboard. If windows is already installed on the new computer, copy the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\ folder onto a USB flash drive that you keep handy for restore time. If you don't have windows already installed, let us know.
Produce a recovery medium with ATI premium installed. Make sure you can boot your new computer on it, and that it can see (a) the usb disk where you stored the backup and (b) the flash drive where you put the drivers.
Just in case, create the same backup you did on your old computer, but on your new computer.
Make sure that your new computer has a bios/disk setup similar to your old one. It would be a bit harder to restore the image of an MBR/BIOS setup to a computer with GPT/UEFI configuration.
