How did ATI get a good reputation?

Thread needs solution

I can't imagine how ATI got a good reputation after reading 10 pages of this forum and my own experiences this morning.
About 10 days ago my Win 7 died and would not be re-incarnated. I thought a bad drive caused it, so replaced the HDD.
I had 11 DVDs made with ATI 2010 that were supposed to be backups. A couple days ago I upgraded to ATI 2011 and this morning I tried to recover some of my data and apps. from the DVDs. It seems they are just coasters.Below is the error I get when I insert one with ATI 2011 open.
Acronis claims to provide support for new purchases for 30 days (if I recall correctly), so I came to their support pages, only to find no phone numbers and no chat options. The only things faintly resembling support I can find are the knowledge base and forums.
If I had read a few pages of this forum before upgrading my ATI, I would have realized I would be wasting my money.
If anyone knows a secret way to get personalized support, please share the secret.

hi Jay,
your 11DVDs are a unique backup ?
have you tried to copy the 11 dvd in a folder on your hard drive, so with all parts maybe it will be capable to exploit your datas ??
it s only an idea but i think it must be tried cause i have no problem to open backups created with ATIH2010 on ATIH2011..

I would try downloading the bootable rescue media ISO for ATI 2010 (the version I believe you used to make the backups) from the support site, burn it to a CD, and attempt a recovery using that.

Jay,

Have you at any time validated these CD's ?

Do they validate from the Rescue CD v2010 or v2011?

What size files are on the DVD's?

As Martin asks, are these one backup or a Full with incrementals?

Are these full disks or partition images?

If you are not able to boot or access your system from the rescue CD, then Torstens' suggestion to download the ISO version would be the next thing to try.

Have you installed and included on the rescue CD's the SAFE environment?

What OS are you using? It is possible that the SSID on the archive file is causing a problem - copying the archives to a hard drive as suggested above may well get around that problem.

If you are running in Windows, are you able to either Explore or mount the archive?
