How do I know when the cloning process is finished?

Thread needs solution

I am cloning a secondary drive (a 640gb 3.5 inch drive to a 750gb 2.5 inch drive)with Acronis in win 8.1 and there is no progress bar or anything after I hit proceed. I currently cannot access either the source drive or the destination drive so I am assuming its doing what it's supposed to do but how do I know? Did I do something wrong?

Good day to you.  Please can someone tell me how I know the cloning process has finished - and whether it was successful? Thank you

Tony, welcome to these user forums.

Please see post: 128231: [IMPORTANT] CLONING - How NOT to do this!!! which contains a lot of information on the subject of cloning and also offers guidance on the best way of doing this type of activity.

Many thanks for your very prompt and helpful reply, Steve. I'll naturally take your advice.  I'm very much a novice so I'll goe through the recommended procedure slowly. I've only got one drive so I'll back up my system to the new SSD using a USB port - than swap three drives over (hopefully!)

I have the same question.  I finally just came back 5 hours later and hoped it had worked.  It had worked.  Phew!
