Am not sure of your question.
Acronis clone will make the target disk to be the same as the source disk with all data on target disk destroyed so Acronis clone is not the procedure you want to use.

However, there is the backup and recover feature which can do what you want to do.
If you take a backup of your entire laptop disk (all partitions), this backup is stored in a file with a *.tib extension. This *.tib image file can be used to create a new disk should the need arise.

Once the file has been created, you can
1. Store multiple copies of *.tib files on the same drive or even the same folder. The *.tib is just another file and you can store many on the same folder or disk.
2. If you want the empty partition to house an actual 2nd operating system which you can choose at bootup, this will require much more as depending upon the type of os on the laptop and how bootable, etc.

So item 1 is easy.
Item 2 needs clarification if this is what you really want. How many partitions is on the laptop when you look at the disk via the Windows Disk Manage graphical view and which OS on the laptop?

i am trying to clone the harddrive of my laptop on a 160gb harddrive that already contains a clone of my desktop on it,hence i dont want it formatted, i just want to skip that step and put the laptop clone on a 75gb partition on the same harddrive.

ps: i tried to do a complete backup and it fails .
