How does ATI 2010 or 2011 compare to tools in Win 7 Pro?
I use ATI2010 on a XP machine. I use the boot disk to create images (haven't needed to restore .. so far)
I plan to get a new PC with Win 7 on a SSD, with SATA 3 internal and external drives.
Win 7 comes with imaging capabilities. How does ATI 2010 or 2011 compare to those?
Should I buy ATI2011?

My experience with Windows Backup in Windows 7 is that it simply isn't reliable, particularly when it comes to unattended backups. Problems range from failing to create the backup at the appointed time to corruption of the backup store rendering it unusable.
My experience with Acronis on Windows 7 hasn't been perfect, but I've always been able to restore both disk/partition images and files from file level backups without problem.

For Acronis check if you get your partitions restored aligned with 2010. If not do the same with 2011 - there it should work.
But I warn you - the GUI in 2011 is a nightmare - at least from my point of view.
I was comparing ATI2011 with the backup/imaging tools built into Windows 7 (not XP). Do the tools in Windows 7 align partitions?
Do I need ATI if all I want to do is image and restore partitions (at boot time)?
I am not interested in continuous backups etc. In fact, all I used in my older XP system was the boot_time disk for ATI2010.
What does ATI2011 do in that regard that Windows 7 does not?
Thanks
