How Long to Backup 46GB

Thread needs solution

Newbie here. My first image backup took almost two hours. Is this normal or did I choose wrong options for the backup?

Sounds like a long time, but you've not told us a thing about the conditions of your backup (drive you're backing-up w/what kind of partitions, what you are backing-up TO and the connection to it, etc).

Assuming you've left Compression to Normal (there are other options) are there any video or ISOs on the source drive, that would cause it to take longer...

Typically, assuming normal compression and priority, you should assume about 30 secs per GB on newer machines up to about 1 min / GB for older machines so long as you're not backing up to an early USB (usb 1) device, which would be about ten times slower.

If you have high compression, wll this greatly increase time for a small savings in size. Otoh, using low compression will not greatly reduce time unless you mostly have already compressed files like mp4, mp3, jpg, etc. Since these won't compress (or wont' compress much) using compression of them gives you the overhead without any appreciable results in space savings.Still, being in normal compression mode should cause a significant slowdown. Are other activities running during backup?
