How long should Sync take?
I've got Sync set up between a file folder on my NAS drive and a folder on one of my PC's internal HDD. I am running Vista.
I had been using SyncToy previously and that worked well, although it required manual syncing.
I switched to using True Image syncing for the "real time" feature- and my expectation was that something new created on my NAS drive would appear- almost real time- on my internal HDD.
After setting up the sync, I received no error messages and since everything at that moment on my NAS drive was already in perfect sync (thanks to SyncToy), True Image didn't seem to do much- at least I don't remember seeing messages saying it was working on syncing. Perhaps I missed it.
Anyway, as a test I created a new folder in the NAS drive I had synced.
I have been waiting now for 30 minutes and have not seen that folder being created on my internal HDD, so I am thinking the sync is not working. I can see the log and it doesnt show any errors. It also doesnt show that it is creating anything.
I was expecting to see a new folder being created almost right away.
Am I missing something or are my expectations wrong?

sas123,
To be accurate, the sync feature isn't working for you for whatever reason, I've managed to sync between a VM and the host machine and a VM and my laptop.

To be accurate, the sync feature is working for you for whatever reason, but you didn't actually answer my question. How long does it take for your sync files to show up once you've added them?

ATI should detect the new files within a couple of minutes, then start the sync. The sync duration time will depend on the number of files and size, connection, etc.

Thanks.
So I tried removing the sync job, thinking I'd start again from scratch.
However, Acronis "greyed out" and stopped responding after about 2 minutes and now 20 minutes later it is still "chewing" on something. My HDD light is constant.
I am not going to interrupt whatever its doing; I can see in Resource Monitor that it is busy writing to its log file and also busy communicating with my NAS drive on my network. Perhaps its "un-indexing" or something.
I guess if it doesnt come back to life after a few hours, I'll kill it and try removing the sync job again, hopefully with different results.
I won't make any hasty judgments about the Sync feature just yet but my first go at it has produced less-than-desirable results.

Well, I'm glad Colin B can sync something. I'm not exactly a computer newbie and I don't think people who troll here fit that description either. The issue is obviously there is something wrong when under the same online account, two PCs report that they are in sync whereas in reality nothing syncs. The most interesting aspect to me remains that on the online interface, it only shows a computer name which is similar to one of my two PCs. Their names do not even show. It seems something is not being linked/transmitted to Acronis servers or servers can't translate the information being sent. I shall post further if I ever hear back from support staff to whom I have submitted detailed information and screen captures of what's going on.

I too am with sas123 on this one. I setup a sync between comp1 and comp3 at my house as a test (first try). Two computers, one account. It worked, I watched it for two days and all was well. I "removed" this test sync (Like Darren I too got hung during the "remove", left it over night still hung, had to kill the process and reboot) and started to setup a number of real syncs (non-test) between comp1/comp2 and comp1/comp3. None of them, not one, has worked. Real bummer, worked once and that was it cannot sync anything now. One thing I did notice; on that first sync that worked a hidden folder called ".sync" was created on both computers. On all the sync attempts that followed they all setup fine, log claims it working, but no .sync folder and no data sync.
Will try to wait patiently for an answer or a fix...

Sync feature simply doesn't work for me. Even though second computer joins sync, sync manager doesn't show it as member of sync. Program crashes repeatedly. Really sorry that I ever upgraded. Worthless piece of crap software. Acronis should be ashamed.

I purchased ATI 2012 for the Sync feature and it just doesn't work properly - hangs my Win7 32bit machine at different screens and I have to cold boot each time to get working again! Acronis used to make good products (a number of years ago) but that's history now. I told myself last time after purchasing ATI 2011 and trying to make the boot media work properly that I would never buy another Acronis product ever again. And here I am getting sucked into thinking this version will have all the fixes and be all good. Wrong! I just threw more money away and now I have to search the Internet for a free progam that actually works properly!

Hi All,
I have one question for those you cannot get sync to work. Are you logged in as an administrator or limited user?
In my experience if you are logged in as a limited user sync doe NOT work.
However if you log in as administrator then the sync will function as configured.
Be warned files are copied both ways to get the two folders identical you cannot control which way the sync takes place and each folder can only be in one sync. There is no concept of source and target or user management of what happens so if you accidentally delete a file from your local system it is gone from the sync folder as well and vice versa it will also not copy read only files which I also cannot begin to understand.

I can't understand why the synchronization process running all the time?
It would be good to make a synchronization by a shedule. I can only start or stop syncronization and that's all.
Also why the hiden files doesn't synchronize?
P.S.
Coming back to synchronize with Total Commander...

This appears to be the case for me also. I usually run as a "standard" account (Win 7 64 bit), but unless I have the local admin account running on each machine, the Sync feature will not work. In fact I get completely erroneous results and in some cases data can apparently be lost. Evidently I do not need ATI Home 2012 itself running on the admin account, but the account must be logged on (so that the machine is logged into the Acronis server). Kinda makes sense, I guess, but this (and much else) is not covered in the prograjm doocumentation.

Leonard,
How many sync jobs do you have?
You can't delete the default job, just disable it, the others can be deleted.

Leonard,
To disable a task, just right click the cog icon and select pause. To delete a task select 'Remove'.
Your other option is to sign out of the sync panel, this will stop all syncs or if you want to disable ALL syncs on a permenant basis you can disable the sync service that appears in Windows Services.
