HOW TO MAKE BACKUP DDISK BOOTABLE.

I did a all partitions backup today of windows 8.1 C drive(system), To make this bootable was greyed out r.
Is it possible to make this disk bootable rather then having separate boot disk?
Also I am having difficulty in recovery process despite all efforts the product fails on restart ( recovery within windows). I am using Acer Aspire S7-391 Ultrabook. Please help and oblige. Thanks
