How secure is TI password protection in version 8?
I am using the password protection built into TI version 8 to protect my backups. Actually, I'm using passphrases, not merley a password. I'm wondering how secure is this password/passphrase protection? I'm not worried about The NSA, police or Homeland Security, but just concerned if some tech/hacker knows some simple way around this password protection.
Anyone have any idea regarding the security of this TI feature - version 8, that is.

Let me answer your question.
Password protection is really strong, especially if you're using passphrase. It is saved locally and it's and in the backup archive itself, and it's also encrypted. It's hard to decrypt such archives without the password knowledge, it'll take a huge amount of time.
Of course, it is possible to decrypt the passphrase and then the backup archive, but as I already mentioned it is really complex procedure, so there's no need to wonder about the security.
Please also note that newer version of Acronis software have more security options implemented, for example, you can encrypt the backup archive with 128-, 192- or 256-bit encryption keys.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you.
