How to uninstall True Image 2012 completely

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have had no end of trouble trying to get True Image 2012 to run on my Windows XP Pro machine but there seems to be nothing I can do to make it run. I get the welcome page and then nothing further happens

I have un-installed and then re-installed it three or four times but it makes no difference except to inform me that I have made multiple activations and that I must de-activate it.

Rather than carry on like this I have tried to un-install it completely but now, every time I boot the computer, I get a message saying "True Image Sync Agent has encountered a problem and needs to close". Could someone tell me how to get rid of this sync agent and whether there are any other "bits" of True Image 2012 lurking around on my computer. I do not intend to try installing it for the fourth (or fifth) time. Although I only purchased it recently, I cannot get technical support

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do NOT want to know at this stage how to make it run on Windows XP because I do not want to try anymore and have deleted the installation files for both True Image 2012 and Plus Pack 2012

Hi,

Try to disable the Acronis Sync Agent Service (syncagentsrv) in the Windows services. I' am afraid but you will never get again a free Acronis system! Some bits of True Image will be left on your computer, unfortunately:

Comments in no special order.

1. There is an ISO file downloadable from your personal Acronis registration page. This ISO file can be burnt to a blank CD as an image and it produces an Acronis bootable Recovery CD--the same as if it had been created from your Acronis installation. This Recovery CD can be used to create full and complete backups as well as restore of those backups. Had you had a successful installation, this is the CD that you would have used anyway for any system restores.

2. Check my signature below for a link to the 2012 cleanup utility--if you wish to use it. If yes, I do suggest you create a checkpoint using your Windows System Restore module before running the cleanup.

3. This can help in an install of TI:

It helps to have msconfig.exe remove all the startup and and non-microsoft services first, then do the uninstalls and install and then use msconfig to return the machine to normal startup. This can help ensure against any progs or security software from presenting any conflicts during install of the ATI drivers.

Many thanks for the info GroverH. I will download the .iso to clean up my system but I won't use it to install True Image - I have done enough fiddling around with TI trying to get it to run.

I have tried contacting Customer Services about the problem but they never bother to respond. I have spent a lot of money on something that doesn't work and they don't seem to care.

Christopher,

You can use the cleanup utility here.

It removes most of ATI components, but not all of them. Removing them is doable but involves risky registry editing.

To remove everything you might try Revo Uninstaller, this is what I normally use to uninstall any application. It will scan the registry and your HD for left-overs.

I will post here the solution once I have found out with Acronis support. But I can say you it's hard to get completely clean and risky:

Don't do it as I have done it described in my threat!

Soooo - Here's what happened to me!! - and don't get me wrong because I have had a lot of help from Acronis support and mgmt in the past few months - I installed ATIH 2012 and PP on my Vista machine - No prob - everthing seemed to be OK - Then I'm getting ready to do my taxes & Amazon has a download cheap (that's me!!) - so I buy it and download it and install it all the time getting these giant warning msgs from Vista!! which I ignor (even downloading the TTAX updates) - this is Sunday aft so I think I'm good !! - Monday, aft I'm going to send an email (believe it or not to Acronis!!) and I discover all my email accts are GONE!! - Humm- So I'll just run Restore and be Ok - but NO - I'm informed there are no shadow copies anymore - Anyway I though it was the download so Amazon sent me a boxed copy which did the same thing (this after restoring the complete system backup) - So I installed it on my netbook which had no Acronis and it ran fine - Also, on my old XP Home machine - I've now got a new Dell machine but I'm a little afraid to move ATIHPP 2012 form my old Vista to the new Dell!! I mean I can still do my taxes on the Dell or the AO722 netbook (TTax installed great on both!!) - I think maybe this is an Acronis ATIHPP 2012 Issue (you think!!) Also, on another forum issue 26566, the reason the Acronis Bootable Media won't boot on a newer Machine is they are set up as ACHI not ATA or SATA or whatever - Until they get the right drivers in their bootable media you will only be able to boot from USB or USB external DVD/CD drives (at least in my experience) - Any help appreciated!!!!!
