How to unregister a license key in order to resell the product without trouble for the new user
Recently I've bought 3 licenses each for
- Acronis True Image Home 2012 inclusive Plus Pack
- Acronis Disk Director Home 11
Unfortunately these products won't work to my satisfaction (see lots of issues here in the forum), so I went back to former stable releases ATI 11.0 and DD 10.0
Even though within the 30 days money back time window, it seems that I won't get a refund for the products, since I did not buy them directly from the Acronis web site but from edv-buchversand, which is one of the main Acronis distributors in Germany.
So now I want to resell the software. However I already registered all license keys within MyAccount of Acronis.
My question: how can I "unregister" or "delete" the license keys from my account and be sure, that the new purchaser will get no trouble with activation and registration of the product?

LOL! This might be a contingency they never considered. So maybe someone has to invent an answer to your question first. I'm almost positive they won't want anyone doing this.

Certainly not, why would they want someone to sell their own product instead of buying a bright shiny new one they can make more money off? Who was it in these forums who said, "Reason # X why I hate online licensing?" A little forethought mixed with some great customer service goes a long way long-term though.

It also possibly sets up subscription based software. If that happens, you would have to buy a new subscription monthly or yearly. Don't purchase a new subscription and they could conceivably deactivate your current program.

Finally my above problem is solved:
1. after some e-mail and phone communication edv-buchversand was so kind to cancel my complete order of totally 9 licenses. I get my money back directly from edv-buchversand instead of the "guarantee giving - but not holding" Acronis company. A really customer friendly and very nice solution and a big praise to edv-buchversand.
2. by a rather short chat with Acronis support all these 9 licenses were immediately deactivated from my account. Also pretty nice and despite of all the trouble I had with the ATIH2012 product itself, I must admit, that this support chat is really great: easy to use, responsive and customer friendly. Of course these poor support members cannot solve the technical issues the Acronis programmers have made. But they obviously do their best to satisfy their customers anywas.
So I keep on track with future Acronis products, even more since I have now spent a lot of time evaluating similar products from other companies.
My result so far:
- none of the competitors has a really "better" product, there is always this or that what's not working in perfection
- as far as I could test it out, none of the competitors does the job faster (but maybe more reliably by not using all these filter drivers, that seem to be the reason for so many issues described in this forum!)
But anyway (for my opinion and purpose) Acronis should:
- kick out all these "bells and whisles" features that no administrator would ever use (nonstop-backup, sync, double house-keeping by using an internal database instead of the directory structure of the filesystem itself)
- concentrate on the basic functionality (image backup/restore, maybe also file backup/restore)
- instead of more and more "integrating to Win7" etc. it should try to have as little effect on the OS as possible

Peter, thanks for sharing your experience. I also tested some backup software from other companies and went back to ATIH2010 (I keep ATIH2012 on a separate Windows 7 installation for experimental testing). Although ATIH2012 caused me some trouble and wasted time, I have to admit that competitors don't always have the same functionality. I just applied for a refund for another software I bought as a replacement for Acronis. Unfortunately, this software doesn't manage the space used by incremental file backups (i.e. sooner or later your hard drive will be full). Support told me, they do not intend to integrate such a feature in the future...
There is a free software from China, which at first glance did the job. But I wouldn'd count on it as a last resort (after hard drive failure etc.). I am still evaluating a software from Switzerland, which seemed promising - but the recovery media is Vista-based and isn't able to clone drives or make full partition backups. Also, you have to pay an extra EUR 15,- for an outdated Windows PE CD.
The good thing about the other products is, that they don't install so many of their own drivers (or no drivers at all) and rely completely on Windows own VSS. Something Acronis should at least offer as an option.
The strength of Acronis IMO is the scheduler, the cleanup of older backups and the powerful recovery media. Even after a lot of disappointment, I still have to see a product, which can really beat True Image in all respects.

After receiving TrueImage 2015 as part of package when buying a Crucial SSD (from Amazon) I initially installed it then uninstalled it thinking I didn't want it. Now it won't let me reinstall it because it is already registered to me. Is there any way to get this program unregistered to allow me to reinstall it. I don't have it installed on any machine right now to I am not trying to do anything illegal.

Hi James,
thank you for your posting! I see under your account you have Acronis True Image 2014 OEM program version, which is supported by hardware vendors: https://kb.acronis.com/content/2201
Please contact Crucial support so that they provide you with a correct installation file. As far as I know there shouldn't be any problems related to previous installations/registration if you have a valid serial number and a corresponding installation file.
Tank you,
