I am so confused -- "Not backed up yet"???

Thread needs solution

I keep two backups on an external drive. My most recent backup has a recover button. The older backup does not, even though it appeared to complete successfully, and there is a .tib file for it of the appropriate size on the external drive. Also, on the Acronis screen right after the name of the backup it says "not backed up yet."  I am sure that wasn't there when I originally made that backup.

And I can't figure out any way to do a recovery from that backup.  And, in fact I can't do a backup from my recent backup either, because when I try I get a "cannot find a version 1" error.  I can't find any way to clear that error, and the many other posts about that

Am I sunk??  Both .tib files exist; Acronis has them on its list -- but seems it simply can't access them, for different reasons.

Both files are on the same external drive where Acronis put them, and I haven't renamed the files. This is with ATI 2014 Premium.

Larry, some questions before any answers.

How many backup drives are you using here?  If you are using more than one drive, then this will cause problems if you are doing so for a single backup task as the software is not designed to work with multiple drives.

The cannot find version 1 error is an indication that backup files have been deleted by using Windows Explorer outside of the Acronis software, where this results in the Acronis Database being out of sych with the files that remain on your backup drive.

You will need to perform a Validation for your backup task(s) and take the Ignore option for each pop-up message that reports a missing file until the validation process finishes.  This should help reconcile the Acronis Database information with the current backup file status.

The other approach that you can take, is to take the option to Remove the settings for the problem backup task which will also remove all information about the task from the Acronis Database files.  Then use the Add existing backup option to add back the last backup .TIB file from your backup drive which will create a new task using the backup file name.  You will still need to Reconfigure the new task, and can rename it too, plus will need to take the option to either Backup Now (or Backup in 1 hour, Backup Later) in order to save any changes made to the task.

The Acronis Logs may also show you more information on what has been going wrong for your backup tasks.
