I bought ATI 2011, but it won't work. I'm lost.

Thread needs solution

Hi,
I'm a stranger here, with poor English.
But I will try to explain my symptoms as best as I can.
I'll also spam some screenshots (doubt that you'll understand) just to help you understand.
Some words may be different from actual English version, because I am translating it.

First, I am using Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 32bit KOREAN.
I just bought a license for ATI 2011 Home KOREAN today. It costed me quite a lot of money,
during to the high currency.

Anyways, I have formatted my PC just to test ATI 2011.
I installed ATI 2011 smoothely. I only have one main drive. Aka. C:/
So I made an Acronis Secure Zone. (it worked well for me in 2009).
I made an backup with One-Click in ASZ. I also made an ATI booting media with it.
After I made the backup, I tried to restore it, just to see if it works.
It warned me something like "All data in the systen partition will be replaced with the backup data. If you do this, the PC may not be able to boot".
But I continued. It asked me to reboot, so I did. But it freezes in the Linux system.
All I see is a sandglass. No progression. Just stopped.
So I tried booting with the ATI booting CD. It went to a screen where I can choose from 3 options.
Something like 1. ATI 2011 Final KOREAN 2. ATI Report? 3. Windows.
So I clicked on #1. But after that I get nothing but a black screen. Doesn't do anything.
So I had to force to restart by pushing the POWER button.
I went over this 5 times, over and over again.
There is this Korean support forum, but it's a ghost, no updates, no replies, no information.
So I had to come here.
What did I do wrong?
Please help me. I don't want to think that I wasted my money.
HELP!

Hi there,

This forum is supported only by End Users like you. You can get official support from Acronis through their web site and from othe product help menu.

If you purchased the product, make sure you have the latest build by registering your license number on the Acronis web site.
Create a new recovery CD with the latest build and try again.
If you already did this, still go to the web site, register and get the bootable media ISO image, burn it to a CD directly (not with ATI) and try again.

If this doesn't work, you will have to file a support ticket to make sure you can boot with Acronis and access your backup.

In the meantime, you can try to use the Windows recovery CD to repair your windows installation. Most likely, no or little damage has been made to your system at this point.

OHM,

In your picture #2 the 100MB partition is the Windows 7 boot files. If you click on system backup this would have been automatically included.

What seems to have gone wrong is that the Linux OS doesn't have the correct drivers for your PC or laptop.

Does the PC still boot without the rescue CD?

Download the ISO rescue disk from your Acronis account and make a new rescue CD. This uses a different version of Linux so might be able to boot your PC. If it doesn't, then if possible install TI2011 onto another PC and download the SAFE media option from your account under the tab Add Ons. Install the SAFE media and make another rescue CD.

The SAFE option works in a different way, so is more likely to work.

Although Acronis don't make this clear, what is a good idea before trying to restore a drive with the OS on it from within Windows or from the Acronis Start Up and Recovery Manager is to make a rescue CD and try booting the PC first. If the rescue CD doesn't work, then neither will the ASRM or restoring from within Windows as both of those reboot into Linux.

I would also advise you to make a Windows 7 repair CD, this will be useful if the boot files become corrupted.

Thanks for your reply Collin.
Yes the system does boot without the rescue CD.
I'll try out what you told me to do.
I hope it works.
Thanks again.

@ Collin B
The SAFE option worked.
None of the rest worked.
Thanks!
