I can't open my recvovery file, what to do?
Hi, I just had my computer crash the day before yesterday. After the crash I weren't able to boot into Windows (8). When i bought my SDD it came with Acronis 10 True Image. So, as a last resort, I managed to get a copy of the drive via Acronis. As I've been lazy with backups, I didn't have any other to fall back on.
Now, to my problem: I can't recover the image I've created. I've tried a couple of ways, the ones I can think of. Have I missed something?
* The image is validated OK via both Acronis 10 in boot-mode and Acronis 14 in Win-mode.
* When trying to recover in 14 the program hangs itself every time.
* When trying to recover in 10 (boot-mode) the computer starts itself over, every time.
* Mounting the image in 14 works okay, but I can't access the data. Freely translated from swedish "e:\ ain't accessible. the file or catalogue is injured and can't be read".
* When looking on the image in 10 there is a "statusbar" indicating how big the file is. In the beginning om this bar there is a red "x".
What else can I do?

Sorry Sir, Its hard to say from here what the issue is, but Acronis v10 is not in any way compatible with windows 8. How validation passes is curious. You have an image that validates, but cannot be read. If you made the image with v10, a version of acronis that is known not to be compatible with the OS you are running, that is the explanation. Validation or not, that product does not support windows 8 and expecting anything reliable from it is unrealistic I'm afraid. If you want to try and diagnose further, you can review the log files, but you may not glean much information. This is good reason not to be lazy when it comes to a back up solution. Sadly these are hard lessons most only experience once. Moving forward you should have several images to revert to should one not work. Good Luck
