I quit
Can't get V12 to back up to my D-link NAS. Getting the out of memory error. Created an additional 65 megs on c:. still fails!
I want to get it off and go back to V11.
Tried uninstalling thru control panel (WinXP sp2) - says its still installed and won't let me re-install V11!
Used V12's opening screen - uninstall - And THAT FAILS TOO! The error text is VERY long - if you want to read it, see attachment.
Bottom line... How do I get back to the older version?
I'm not one of those guys that yells about the 'terrible software' and makes a big scene - I'm just done with it
Any help would be great
Thanks
Mike

I don't have a very recent one - so that won't work. I was having issues with my NAS and BU's were not getting done like scheduled. I thought switching to the newer version would be more NAS friendly - turn out its WORSE. I've been searching - seems like Acronis has problems with NAS units that are Linux based (Most are?) I don't want to NOT use the thing so I keep trying to get this to fly - very frustratring. I'd be further ahead with just a big-ole External USB drive.
Any other thoughts??
Thanks

How are you addressing the NAS? From what I understand, the full network path is the way to go.

I have a bunch of partitions on one of 2 drives in the PC. Did a test BU of the SMALLEST and it worked - apparently enough memory for the little job. When I try to do a FULL BU (all partitions) or say, JUST all Images / music That's when the memory issue pops up - in other words, I believe I am addressing the NAS correctly coz it 'kinda' works when it feels like it
What I REALLLY NEED to know is how to get rid of Acronis & Start Over. I have NOTHING now. V12 is gone (but still hanging out somewhere) and I can't revert coz ITS NOT (really) GONE.
I am Skrewed till I can do a real uninstall that sticks!
Thanks for the help - Deeply appreciate the power of Forums! People giving time & talent unselfishly to help somebody they don't know - it is a WONDERFUL thing!
ANYBODY?

Here are a couple links but I have no clue whether this will help you.

If your version is what we know as the current 2012 version, there is a cleanup utility listed in the last line of my signature below.
If what you call V12 is really the 2012 version, and V11 is really the 2011 version, it would be less confusing if you would refer to it as its correct name.

Sorry! - That's what I really meant. 2012 = V12 in my little world (2011 = V11)
I'll look @ the cleanup utility and see what I can get from it.
The more I deal with this the worse it gets. Do you think it would be best to just get a big external and use the NAS for something else?
I am a BIG fan of backed up data! I get a little queazy when I know I'm not current - like now
Thanks

Use a big external for your daily backups, use the NAS to copy archives to keep (can be a manual process)

Backing up a PC to a NAS should not be an issue ( I have done that a few times ).
Two things to remember:
- speed is much slower than directly attached or via USB 2.0
- map destination NAS-directory to a drive letter / use full path as suggested above.

Thanks EVERYONE for the help. Will see what NewEgg has for Big Externals.
I DL'd a copy of NovaStore to see if it'll work and so far its chugging away fine at a full BU to the NAS. Hell, I'd even use Win XP native BU if I knew I could turn my back on it & know it was there should I need it - I'm a pretty simple guy!
I really like the new features in Acronis 2012 though! Prolly would be better to get a Big USB and use the NAS for something else. I have a small external and will test new acronis on that.
There really aren't that many choices for user friendly - GUI driven back up programs out there. I'm NOT an Acronis HATER, I just want it to do what its told - without jumping through hoops.
Thanks again for all the input!
Mike
