Identifying full disk image vs differential on Acronis Tue Image Home 2011 build 6857
Hi, I have Window 7 64bit and running Acronis True Image Home 2011 build 6857. I need to know how to identify the full disk backup files vs the differentials. I have scheduled to run a full disk backup after every 5 differentials. Here are samples of the names:
differentials1.tib, differentials2.tib, differential3.tib,...differential15.tib
differentials1(1)1.tib, differentials1(1)2.tib,differentials1(1)3.tib....differentials1(1)15.tib
differentials1(2)1.tib, differentials1(2)2.tib,differentials1(2)3.tib....differentials1(2)15.tib
.
.
differentials1(5)1.tib, differentials1(5)2.tib, differentials1(5)3.tib....differentials1(5)17.tib
I believe due to the size of the hard drive, the backup is broken down to several tib files. But,which files are the full disk backup and which files are the differential? What do the numbers in the parenthesis mean?
Thanks.

Catflot,
The backup files with a parenthesis number in the name are full backup. Eg backup(1).tib is a full backup
The backup files with an integer suffix are partial backups (incremental or differential). Eg backup(1)3.tib
What is strange is that you have so many fulls.
If you set up a split setting for the task (under backup option) or you backup to a disk formatted with FAT32, that could explain it. You can maybe reformat your backup disk with NTFS to avoid the automatic splitting.
If not, you might have a problem with your scheduler. To fix it:
- move the TIB files you want to keep to hidden directory on the same disk for safekeeping,
- from within ATI, delete all your backup tasks,
- uninstall ATI, reboot and reinstall it
- reset your backup task.

RayG, I did check the size of the files before posting. They were similar in size with the last one of the group being slightly less. Therefore, I was not sure if it a differential or the end of the data. I also look at the create date/time. But, I don't want to be counting dates to determine which is full and which is differential. I should clarify that I was looking at the files on explorer.

Pat, thank you for explaining the naming convention. The external drive that holds the backups is formatted as FAT32. I believed it came formatted that way. I will have to see if I have enough space to backup the backup so that I can reformat. Thanks again.
