Be sure to run chkdsk X: /r (substituting "X" with your drive letter) from a command prompt on the drive you are trying to back up.

Here is a KB article about it: http://kb.acronis.com/content/15725.

Try running the backup task manually to see if the error is generated again.

I ran chkdsk just over a week ago for NSB problems and it found no errors. Manually starting the incremental backup task completed successfully and it also validated.

Any insight to what the error message is referring to? Windows event log does not indicate any system errors that might be associated with the incremental backup failure.

Typically not being able to do the snapshot can be fixed with a uninstall/reinstall of the application.

Tom,

I wish I could could give you a definitive solution to this issue, but I don't have one.

From what my understanding is, Acronis makes a snapshot (sector bitmap) of your drive before beginning the actual backup. If Acronis has an issue building the snapshot, the task errors out as yours has done. This operation is handled by the snapman driver and the True Image program. Please see this KB article on how Acronis uses snapman.sys to create the snapshot. http://kb.acronis.com/content/1512 The article is a little out of date in respect to 2013, but the method of snapshot creation should be the same. The reference to the snapman strings in the registry refer to "fltsrv.sys" (only in the upper filter values in the registry strings mentioned in the KB article) in 2013.

FYI, my scheduled incremental backup ran normally and without errors this morning. I didn't do anything other than manually starting the task after last weeks failure. It was scheduled to run on 10/3/2012, and I manually ran it on 10/7/2012.
