Incremental Backup File Names are Getting Very Long
I have TIH 2009 doing a full backup after every 6 incremental backups. Why does it keep appending "(2)" to the file name every time it starts a new series? My understanding is that the number in parenthesis is supposed to be incremented to (3), (4), (5), but instead it keeps appending "(2)". The file system is NTFS. As you can see from my attachment, the file names are getting extremely long. Do I have something set wrong? Is it a bug? Has it been fixed?
Here is the latest file name series (full backup plus 2 incrementals):
Full-System-Backup(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2).tib
Full-System-Backup(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)2.tib
Full-System-Backup(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)(2)3.tib

It started out as Full-System-Backup.tib. See attachment. I'm not sure why there are only 3 incrementals before it started the next series with the first "(2)" appended.

Did the imaging ever get interrupted at some point, for example the PC went into sleep mode or was rebooted?
The easiest way around the problem is of course to start all over again. What might work is to manually alter the tib.tis file which is the task file script. In there will be the current name of the file plus what it will be the next time around, so you could alter this back to the original name making sure that the increment status is changed as well. This would cause a new full to be made and hopefully incrementals thereafter, but there is no guarantee of this working and is fraught with more things going wrong.
If you do decide to go the manual route, make a copy of the current tib.tis file before altering it. If you have many tasks then you'll have to guess which one belongs to the task in question. The modified date would be a good starting point.
