Info about which file is corrupted if Sector ReadError
Hi,
i am using TI 2011 to regulary Backup my Notebook via Partition Backup.
With the last Backup i got a read Error on Sector xxxxxxx. To find out what file ist involved i changed the backup type to file and folders and got the same error message with the same sector number.
This time is choose "Ignore all" and the Backup contiued.
Now i want to find out which files are corrupted or missing in the backup because of the error, but in the Backup-Log i only find a single sector number.
It would be also important to know if TI in file and folder backup mode ignores a file with a defective sector or ignores just the one defective sector and therefore creates a corrupte file in the backup.
Also from my experience i never had a single sector but always multiple sectors defective if the harddisk is causing problems.
Therefore i would like to know if i really have only one single sector defective (as written in the log-file) or are the following sector errors are not logged because of the "ignore all" selection.
Any answers to the questions ?

When you run chkdsk /r, it will write the logs to the event viewer and you will be able to find file fragments that can point you towards identifying the files with problems (*.CHK).
In the event viewer, look under application log for entries from winint, winlogon or chkdsk (Win7)
