For info: Using bootable media on an HP Elitebook 8560w

Thread needs solution

Tried using ATI Home 2012 bootable media on my new HP Elitebook 8560w but as with some other linux distributions it blocks just after configuring the disks.

Under Mint Linux 12RC1 I workedaround adding the nouveau.modeset=0, so apparently this is related to NVidia support.

Nevertheless it was possible to start Acronis by:
* Hitting F2 to get a console
* Type product to start Acronis.

Voila.

By the way, I've been typeing "product" on USB bootable versions of ATI since about version 6 or 7, but don't remember where I found this info. Anyone know where it's documented?

Cheers,
Mike.

If you get as far as the Acronis Loading......... you can press F8 which will bring up a Linux command line with the word 'quiet...' to which you append switches - see the user manual for the switches that can be used.

I never knew typing 'product' would do this. Perhaps it was one of the posts on the old Wilders Forum.

Hmm ... F8 ... must try that.
A "Linux command line" ... I think you mean a line which specifies the kernel parameters to boot with.

Typing product works if you boot linux and for some reason you come to a (BusyBox) command line "#" prompt. I've been using this for years when booting the media of USB key, or integrating Acronis bootable media into an existing grub or syslinux boot structure.
So this is at a (BusyBox) shell prompt after booting (Acronis Bootable Media's) linux.
