Installing a saved Raid 0 Image to a single SSD Intel X25-M 160GB

Thread needs solution

I currently have 2 WD Raptors (74G) in raid 0. I now want to replace these 2 WD Raptors with a single Intel X25-M 160GB SSD and I want to use the "Trim" feature of Windows 7 - raid not currently supported nor does Intel's Toolbox support raid. These features optimizes the performance of SSD's.

I have created a backup of my raid array (C Drive) using Acronis True Image Home 2010 onto a separate hard drive; in fact on 2 separate hard drives.

Question: By switching my motherboard's BIOS from Raid to IDE and using Acronis, can I restore my saved image and install it on Intel SDD. Will it be bootable? Or, do I have to clone my existing C drive (raid array) to my new Intel SSD?

I'd love to hear from someone that has actually done this conversion.

Hello Leo,

No worries, I will help you to clarify this situation.

Yes, this operation can be performed with our product. We do not expect any difficulties by restoring RAID image on SSD drive. However, there are several common recommendations:

After you create an image of your RAID, please plug in your SSD drive and create a partition on it by using Disk Management Snap-in (Start->Run->diskmgmt.msc) according to the capacity of the drive you're going to recover.

After that, restore the image using the Standalone Version of the product. The detailed information about the recovery is available in Chapter 10 of this User's Guide.

Do not boot your system in normal mode after the recovery. Boot it in Safe mode. The description of this process is given below:

1. When your computer restarts but before Windows launches, press F8.
On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press F8 when the boot menu appears.

2. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Safe Mode with Networking option, and then press ENTER.

When system is booted, please locate your old RAID drivers and delete it from your system. You may check their location on vendor's website.

Reboot your PC and start it in Normal mode.

I'd like to make sure all your queries regarding Acronis products are resolved.
Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.
