Integration with Windows

Thread needs solution

This is a minor issue compared to all the great stuff they removed from the 2014 version, and I don't expect there's a way to fix it in an app that's been so eviscerated.

But, if it can't be done in 2015, someone can add it to the list of things that's no longer in 2015.

Is there a way to remove the integration with windows that Acronis 2015 performs upon installation?

This is the extra "Acronis Recovery" tab that appears in the "[name] Properties" window that's accessed from the context menu for any file or folder. I personally don't like apps adding a items to the context menu (or worse, the Properties window).

Almost all apps have an "integrate with windows" checkbox that allows/disallows that feature. Acronis 2014 had it.

The help file for 2015 has one paragraph about integration and at the end says "See details about the optional components in Integration Settings."

An "Integration settings" item does not exist, at least not that I can find. I suspect it might appear in installation, but I'm not keen on re-installing it just to find out.

I have lost windows backup functioanlity and I want it back. Is there a way to disable this integration? It seems to be a very intrusive feature.

To remove the right click menu items delete these keys from registry;

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{C539A15A-3AF9-4c92-B771-50CB78F5C751}
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers\{C539A15A-3AF9-4c92-B771-50CB78F5C751}

To remove the "Acronic Recovery" tab from properties menu delete these keys from registry;

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\PropertySheetHandlers\{9E42900A-85F9-4E67-9778-575FBBA0A81C}
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\ShellEx\PropertySheetHandlers\{9E42900A-85F9-4E67-9778-575FBBA0A81C}

Enjoy!

Edit: Missed a key for folders and drives.

Windows seem to also make backups and I want to end that.
