IT 2014 Activation Issue: The Hardware ID Has Changed

Thread needs solution

Hi all! I have read through the forums and release notes, and this issue appears to have been marked as resolved in many different versions of the software. However, I have the latest 2014 build installed and still get "The Hardware ID has Changed" every single time I launch the software which causes me to activate it again. Is there a solution for this in TI 2014?

I'm getting the same message at each start up. What happens when my activation limit is exhausted? Will this mean this bug will stop me using the software I've paid for? Knowing Acronis the answer will be yes.

No. Acronis is good at sorting out licensing issues. Your snark is unwarranted.

Are you connected to the Internet when you receive the message and when you activate?

Follow these instructions to activate: http://kb.acronis.com/content/43955

They might be good at sorting out after I've been blocked because my activations have been exhausted but the fact remains there will undoubtedly be a situation where I will have to go through the process of emailing them or sending a support ticket just to get the software to work. So no my snark (whatever that is?) as you put it isn't unwarranted. When nothing at all is changing on my machine why am I getting these messages and having to re-activate? Of course I'm connected to the internet because otherwise I wouldn't be asking about exhausting my activations would I?
I'm grateful for your help but I don't really want to be in a position where I have to re-activate a bought programme every time I launch the programme.

I appreciated the help and the link but the link doesn't really solve the problem.
It explains what to do to re-activate the programme but my problem is the programme needs this every time it starts up.

Deactivate first, then activate.

Hi Tuttle, I don't have the option to deactive. When I click the Help->Activate button as your link suggested, it says it successfully activated. However, the next time I launch the software it asks me to activate it again. Since it is activating successfully each time, I don't have a deactivate option there. Any ideas?

That's odd. A couple of the MVPs know more about activation issues than I do, so with luck one of them will see this.

Good deal, thanks for trying! As I mentioned looking through the patch notes from previous versions, this seems to have been an issue with 2012 and 2013 both in certain builds. I never experienced it with those at all, but 2014 is not cooperating.

Joshua,

Did this suddenly start to happen, or happened as soon as you installed and activated your copy?

Is your licence a single installation type?

Have you tried running a repair install of 2014?

Colin,
I'm having the same problem: Multiple requests to activate and when I go thru the steps it activates just fine. It seems to have suddenly started, possibly after I changed my graphics card. Also no option to deactivate. Single installation type license.
No, I have not tried running a repair install. It took 2 1/2 months to get NSB to work and I still have no idea why it started working right, so I am very hesitant to reinstall the program.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks,
Glenn

I also have the same problem (version 2014). I tried to follow instructions provided (http://kb.acronis.com/content/43955) and I also do not have an option to deactivate like Joshua Manning:

"Hi Tuttle, I don't have the option to deactive. When I click the Help->Activate button as your link suggested, it says it successfully activated. However, the next time I launch the software it asks me to activate it again. Since it is activating successfully each time, I don't have a deactivate option there. Any ideas?"

Every time I start Acronis it displays the same message that Hardware ID is changed and only option that I have under menus is activate. After I select it it just reactivate the Acronis without offering any other options.

Does anybody have any suggestions what to check?

Thanks in advance

Boris

I have the same problem with True Image 2014.

Did a lot of things Acronis Support told me to do, but nothing solved the problem.

Found a temporary solution:

First activate True Image.

Then add a rule to the windows (7) firewall
%windir%\system32\WF.msc
to disallow
"%ProgramFiles% (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\license_activator.exe"
to access the internet.
(new outbound rule)

True Image stays activated then, but cannot look for updates any more...

Good luck

Joerg
