Just Want One Backup Copy of Disk Image

Thread needs solution

I am running win7 64 bit and Acronis Home 2011.
I have an external HDD and would like to store my disk image backups in that drive.
I have disk images in various stages i.e. a new restore, a new restore with certain appz, etc, etc.
Is there a setting where ATI would just create disk images without getting deleted after 6 months. I just would like to have an original disk image in various stages so I can just restore them without having to do a system recovery. Thanks for being so patient.

I've done that too with new installations, but why don't you just put the early "stages" that you want to save into some other directory where ATI can't find them.

Create a new disk and partition task, for the backup scheme choose custom, then choose the type of backup you want (always full, full+incrementals, full+differentials). Then you can choose how many partials you want before a full, and how long you want ATI to keep the backups.

Tomf,

Could you explain this procedure more?
Do you mean create another folder and save the disk image there? Will I be able to restore from that backup folder?

Again, thanks

You can find the user guide here for ati2011 and older versions.

basically, it sounds like you don't want any deletions, in which case set the limit to size and use a size greater than your had. The worst that should happen now is ATI will report a disk full error once the target has no more room.
